Just out of curiosity. My brother's car, 95 prelude, has little cold from the AC. He wants to refill it, but someone told him he cannot. Well, is this true?
Thanks.

I dont see why not. I dont know about that type of AC, but if he wants to refill it with R12(thats probably what was in it) he can.
He also might have a leak, so taking it to a AC shop and getting them to test it for leaks might be a good idea. He also can not buy R12 with out a license, so the shop will have to do it. That might be where you are confused.
Since R12 is so toxic to the earth, only licensed professionals can add it, or take it out(legally). It can cost upwards of 40-50$ of can, plus labor.
Ok thanks for the reply. So he can probably go buy the kit, say from Walmart, and it will probably work. I will give him the good news.

Check for the label under the hood to see what type of freon is needed. You can not mix R 12 with R 134. It will do more damage than good. My guess is that a 95 might be using R 134.
I am sure it is r134. my 94 VR4 has r134 so I would think that a 95 would use 134
Just make sure you look, because my friends 95 Chevy had R12.
SORRY GUYS. What I meant was 85 PRELUDE, LOL. Is it possible ?![]()

85 should have R 12
Unless it has alum adapters on the high and low ports.
Then it is 134a and you can use the walmart kit cause someone already changed it overfrom r-12 to 134a.
Thanks . =)
