    Taking Off The Governor

    1. Is it possible?

    2. Would I notice an accelleration difference?

    3. Is it illegal?

    That's got to be the cleanest living DX I've ever seen.

    WoW.. I guess I learn something new everyday.. I was not aware that Carbs had governors, since they do not have ecu's

    what kinda governor are you talking about? i don't know of any speed governors on our cars or anything.

    We have an RPM fuel cut... but unless you want to shift at higher rpms I don't see you having to remove it.

    Well. There is some kind of limiter under my gas pedal. I have a carbed auto tranny accord. I'm just curious as to if I can remove this limiter some how.

    You mean the pedal stop... that wont help you if you remove it... you should tighten your throttle cable if you feel you're not getting wide open throttle. It's not like you have a weber where the pedal travel is a factor.

    the carb's are controlled by something simular to an "ecu"
    the trans have a governor but not the kind the limit's our speed .
    so your right (^)<(*?*)>(^) you learn something every day
    like when i first got the car i did'nt know the auto tranny was electronically controlled.

    Yeup. And I took a really good look today at the limiter under the petal today. It's 1/4 inch away from the back of the petal, and honda took the time to kindly weld it on...

    Most of our auto trannies have no electronic control, It has a throttle value cable connected to either the accelerator pedal assembly or it's opposite the throttle cable on the carb...

    maybe on the EFI the auto trans is electronicly controlled, but I see no wires or vacuum lines to suggest that for the carbed car.

    it's not a limiter... it's a pedal stop... most likely to keep the heavy footed people from snaping the trottle cable or bending the throttle linkage.

    as i said i'm not rying to start anything ya know.
    now maybe not on the dx it's not elect controlled but to me it feels like that on the lx and lxi.
    plus there another site that state's that in 1990 honda made a newer version of the electronically controlled transmission
    plus i feel that honda seem's like they first came out with quite a few things
    why not this.:super:

    ok... well, my question is somehow related to this... I've heard about removing vacuum lines and all that, and I need some clarification on it... which ones to remove, and can I do it to my EFI? or is it a carb only mod? if so, what cheap tricks CAN I do?
