are either of the gauge clusters from an LXi preferably 86-87?

Honestly, I know that one is from an 88DX. As for the other, I have no idea. If I'm not mistaken, it may have been from the parts car I used for my 5spd swap. If that's the case, the parts car was a 4dr 87 LX-i.
How would I be able to tell if it was from an 86-87 LX-i? Are they diff. from the others?

I really don't know the difference. I broke my original temperature gauge, and every replacement gauge I've put in has been from an LX. With the LX gauges (I've tried two of them now), the needle goes right up to Hot about 2 mintues after I start the car. I'm thinking the LX has a different sending unit or gauge unit from the LXi's. So now I'm looking for an LXi fuel/temp cluster intact with the motors behind it

Nope. On some days, the needle will spike as soon as I put the key in the ignition before I start the engine. And I think it's highly unlikely that the engine will be cold one moment, and then suddenly become so hot that the needle goes off the scope within seconds. Its an electrical issue. If it was really running as hot as the needle indicates, something nasty would have happened by now.Originally posted by markmdz89hatch
