    Makin a Turbo

    Well I start school in sept and the instuctor said we have to have a project in my classes (welding and joining) anyways I told him Im gonna go get a t3 turbo from this guy i know that works at a junk yard....the intructor told me if I measure and size up everthing that i can weld it all together in class for my project....what u guys think....................

    and does and one have a diagram of a t3 hooked up ..i gotta know how much room i have to make the headers, the pipe to run to the muffler and to the intake manifold.......

    I have no T3 schematic but keep me posted on how you are building that manifold!

    let me make sure i got this strait , make an ezhaust manifold hook the turbo to that , run one pip to the intake manifold, one out to the air filter to pull air in and the one out the turbo to the exhaust pipe right?

    yep. that one on the bottom goes the the down pipe but you have the right idea. and its not a "header" anymore, its a exhaust manifold. thats just the proper names for those, you have where they go correct tho.

    is that all i need to cut, weld and hook up, and if so do i need to make a place for a blow off valve on the pipe runnin to the intake manifold

    you dont *have* to put in a BOV but it is a good idea. but yeah, you put it in the pipe that goes to the intake manifold

    stainless steel thh only way to go, ill prob go with a lighter steel for the pipes, im gonna heat them and bend them like needed, i dont wanna cut and weld cut and weld, i want it to look good. some places i wont be able to help it but u get the idea

    ive got a proffesional outfit doing the kits. there are defintely gonna be varying levels and each kits will bascially be custom made for each customre no group buys. right now the fixtures are being made.

    how much cutting fitting is required. i could hook you up with the stuff and the prints to build a 4into 1 manifold. stainless is exspensive as hell. better to use 1 1/4 weldels

    well the only thing im payin for is the turbo, the steel and all the pipes i get free from my mom, shes a macinist at some big as metal company......and no im not using his kit...lol .....i wish i could fit a turbo from a 18 wheeler, lol, i got 50 of them layin around from my dads work

    well ninja my advise is look at other manifolds and figure which one have good flow and which ones dont. find a style you like and will best fit your project and mirror your manifold after it. the're a lot of good points people make. for instance if you are running an internal waste gate manifold. make the waste port follow 12 inches then have it merge into the down pipe. that helps a lot on flow. bla bla bla just little stuff like that will make a huge difference on spool up time and flow. good luck with your class.
    car status: car is back up and in action. just waiting for money on turbo junk.

    if its got wheels and motor then boost it

    just because i dont care doesnt mean i dont understand

    maybe ill send you a copy of my fixture ? or at least prints to build one. cutting the flange is pretty easy with the right tools.
