    Question 16"Mugen JDM forged rims

Recently, I picked up 4 16"Mugen JDM forged rims and I"m wondering if their a good rim for a 3 gee. Their 4 x 100 and weight virtually nothing. I looked up mugen wheel specs and their either 11 or12 lbs. I'm not sure how to check this. The rims are at my mechanics and I want to order Bridgetone Potenza Re 910 205/45 TR16's but, before I do I need to know: Are they good rims to use on a 3 gee? and Am I okay with my tire selection?

Well the guy at Osaka, in Montreal called them Mugen Max; whatever that means All I know is I'm darn sure their extremely expensive rims. Their gourgeous! Their light, and their at least 8 to 10 spoke. On Tuesday, my mechanic's open for business and I'll be sure to get all the info printed on the rims then. If anyone can assist me in finding out exactly what their name is and their worth, I'de appreaciate the help. Their really bad ass rims. Their a kind of goldish brown with black highlights. I really like them. They can't weight more than 11 or 12 lbs. each. Please share your opinion on my tire selection. thanks

Maybe I'm stupid but, why doesn't a post about wheels go in the "Suspension/Wheels/Tires" section!??!

Well, if you must know.... I was trying to figure out what the specs were for these rims and make sure that they were alright to put on a 3gee. Considering tires for these babies was also a significant investment and if I would have had to sell them because they were'nt the right fit, I'de loose $$. I thought that was a technical ? , hence I posted it in the technical section. I don't post very often and I posted this thread in the wrong section. Obviously the moderator corrected the error. So why is it still an issue? I fucked up. So what! Instead of being anal about this, why has'nt anyone answered me about tire selection? I've ask if the Bridgstone Potenza 205/45 TR16's and nobody replied. Are you to busy finger pointing! Thanks to bboipinoy112 for seeing the obvious, DXHATCHBACK for posting the pic and all other positive posts in this thread about the rims.

well in answer to the riginal question, you havent listed the entire model number of the tire you would like to use. From what I can tell there is 2 different series of Bridgeston Pontenza tires. Theres the RE710 and the RE910. Now dont let the higher number convince you into a superiority bracket like most other things. If it was my choice and I was running Mugen rims like that, I would run the tire size that you have selected with the Potenzt RE710. They are an excelent tire all around and for just over $100 a pop US not a bad buy in my book. Oh and if you ever want to sell let me know.

Oh and as long as yours are the 43mm offset not the 50mm you'll be fine even if you lower your car.

paintcan, not trying to burst any bubbles or anything, but have you verified that they are Mugen wheels and not either Rota or ADR's? I ask only b/c both companies offer a wheel very similar to that mugen wheel, but at a fraction of the cost. Even if that is the case though, you still do have a great wheel, just not the big name brand and not forged, which boosts the price to the 500~ish per wheel.

Not doubting, just wanting to make sure you got what you thought you were getting.

Well guys here's the skinny! After viewing Jims thread on wheel spec. links I double check what Mugen rims I had purchased. Turns out that they in deed are true and true Mugen MF10's. There stamped made in Japan with the Mugen name on them, 4 x 100 and also say forged. Label on inside of the rim says 16 x 7 with a 43mm. offset.

Here's the kicker, after checking one of Jims links (wheelspecs.com) I noticed that Mugen didn't make 4 x 100 wheel or at least the site wasn't showing it. This brought out the skeptic in me and I went down to see my mechanic, measured center to center and low and behold it 4.5". I put the car on the hoist, ripped the wheel off and the fucker didn't fit. I can't believe it! Here I am with real fucking Mugen's and I can't use them on my 3gee. But, if I had a 4 or 5gee. Different story. Oh well, that's life. I took them back to Osaka and got my money back. If anybody wants them, I could still get them? Shit luck huh...
