    My Conversation With KYB

I thought I'd drop KYB a note to see if they'd pick up our cars in their application line. Here's the result:
My first message to KYB Corporate:
I am part of a 3rd Gen Accord group with over 2700 members (www.3geez.com). Previously, anyone serious about the suspension of the 3rd Gen Accord bought Koni adj struts. Now Koni has discontinued our model. Can you tell me if there is an AGX strut that will fit the 86-89 Accord? I know that none are listed in the application line, but I also know that often a part will fit though it's not made specifically for a particular auto. With Koni out of the running, KYB could pick up quite a few customers if an AGX were available for our cars! Thanks so much.
    KYB's first response:
Sorry. No AGX's for this vehicle.
Notice they didn't really answer my question. My assumption is that they won't recommend a strut not specifically made for your car because of liability.

    My 2nd message:
Would KYB consider putting struts into production for the 86-89 Accord with a certain number pre-ordered and pre-paid?
I was thinking if they were open to this that we could put together a group buy to get the new item into production, like we've done in the past with other custom parts.

    KYB's 2nd response:
Sorry not for this year vehicle.
That blows, but it's not unexpected. Jim says that we still have yet to try the 88-91 Civic AGXs for fitment. It would suck to have to give up hope on adjustable performance struts for our cars!

Damn Site, good looking out for us. It's never good to hear that the door has been shut in our faces yet again, but we can't give up on this little crusade.

Can you e-mail or PM me with the e-mail address for KYB. I think I'll try and give 'em a call tomorrow afternoon and see if I can get anywhere as far as measurements or tech sheets from other applications.
