    1991 Prelude Si 2.1 for $900 obo

It's a White 1991 Prelude Si with 224,000 on it and needs a valve job. His mechanic said the #4 cylinder (exhaust) is bad. He lives about 80 miles from me so Monday I'm gonna go there and test drive it. It doesn't have the 4WS though. Its a 2 door obviously. He's also selling his Enkei 17's w/Faulken's for $750 (he said he paid that much. It's a 5 speed transmission. New battery, the interior is in mint condition, but the exterior has a couple starting spots of rust. I have the VIN # so I will see what its history is if I can get a carfax. His mom told me he would take less for the car so its $900 obo. He's got a new alternator (extra part he bought but never installed) He said it runs great and it's really fast. It doesn't have any mods but that would change if I got a hold of it.

    VIN# JHMBA4156MC015287

He still has the Si wheels with new tires too.
I'm going up to check it out on labor day. And will take pics too. He said it has a b21a DOHC stock motor. He replaced cap, rotor, plugs, wires, filter and it has a clutch that was put in about a year ago by the previous owner. I will test it out I think I would pay $650-$750 for it but $1000 if I got the Enkei wheels.

I was also wondering b/c the dude said it was a b21a and I thought it was a b20a5 like the 89 si. I never heard of a 2.1 L lude before. Can someone please confirm the motor model and specs? Thanks.

I read somewhere about a Jackson racing supercharger? (as a bolt on, I'm hoping this is true b/c this would rock.) I'm not on my computer so I dont have my normal links so I can't just scroll and find the normal stuff. I think I would rather supercharge it than turbo it.

so if you get this car, does that mean the b20 swap isn't going to happen?

Hes right, the 88-89 ludes had a b20, the 90-91 had the b21 which if I remember correctly has a bunch of problems with it as opposed to the b20 in the 88-89s. Although it had a bit more hp.....something like 5 hp I think.

Yeah I bet one of the problems was weak valves B/c it has an exhaust valve that is bad on it. Well that makes me feel good that this guy knows what he's talking about. I'm going to end up rebuilding it completely. And if anyone has ever had a student loan then they would know what I'm going through with mine. I couldn't get the money in time for the b20 so I told him what was going on and to just put it up for sale again.

Guys I got some good news. I bought the car for $700 with a new ACDELCO alternator. I didn't like the rims he had on it so I just got the stock ones. I have to pick it up in a couple of weeks b/c I will just haul it straight to school. The guy is letting me store it there in his garage until I get it.

I have been trying to find a forum for 91 preludes like this forum. I have been doing some searching and I guess not too many parts are availible like the accord so I assume it will be a lot of custom work. It has a sunroof that works great and a stock cd and cassette player. The interior is in absolute mint condition. All it needs is new floor mats. I will probably get some custom made floor mats. This new friend of mine at school had some diamond plate modded to fit as floor mats. (I thought it would be gay like APC stuff at first but it looked really sweet!) I want to get pistons, valves, rods, and rings for sure ASAP. But I want to know where I can get a CAI if I even can. I can only find that short ram one on ebay. It's a 1991 Prelude Si with a B21A1 . I would like to get a supercharger for it too. I was certain that the 90-91 Ludes could get them without mods. It has high miles so I want to pretty much get all new motor parts for it. I plan to get a DC Sports S.S. Header for it when I get all the internals done.

I was wondering where I could find the stats on the car? B/c I was wondering if those ITR pistons and valves would be alright with this motor. I know that the Integra Type R pistons and valves should work but I know that the CRV wouldnt work and that has a B series motor so I just want to be sure that my B21A1 will work.

The B21A1 is notorious for worn out cylinder walls (something to do with the material used for the cylinder walls). They commonly blow blue once they start getting old so be careful. It is a nice looking car though and for that price, it sounds like a good buy. Check out www.preludepower.com or www.preludeonline.com

Thanks Yasu, I suppose I could get the block bored out if the walls are bad. I should have pics of it soon. Thanks for the info.

Oh and I just wanted to let everybody know that I will be keeping the 3G Accord.

Whoa I will have 2 3GEEZ accord and lude. I am finding that most common mods are like 92 and up so I'm getting the shaft once again for easy to install parts. Oh well that easy bolt on stuff takes the fun out of tuning and moding.

Oh and I just bought a mini fridge for my tool box at school I've been selling pop for $0.50 a can. The fridge will fit in one of the drawers on the add on box.

No problem. You may want to consider getting a low mileage JDM B20A (for the 3rd gen Lude of course). Around here, they go for $500US or so. All the info you need on the swap is available at the sites I posted earlier. I know a few guys selling clear bumper lights and CF hoods for the 3rd gen if you're interested.

Yeah I probably wont do a motor swap b/c I will rebuild the B21A1 but I would definately be interested in the lights and hood. Let me know how much they would be. Are they used or new? Thanks again. I found some good info on the site you gave me. I think I will go with a CF WRX hoodscoop with some kind of custom intake. I haven't really sat down to figure it out but I will need the car for measurements and whatnot.
