    sub without an amp?

Hey peeps.. I havent done much to the sound system to my accord ever, its still got stock back speakers and front door speakers. The previous stereo was some pioneer old one i dunno if it was original or not, but now i got a new stereo from a mate
that came from the honda prelude 98, the sound is great heaps better then the old one.. Anyways i also got a free sub from a friend and im wondering can i just connect the sub in just like that?
Like is there a built in amp already in the radio that can handle it?
Or do i need amps and stuff to make it work?
    Thanks

you CAN but I wouldn't for a sub to work properly its input needs to be within a certain freq range, in other words it needs a cross over. Subs are also power hungry so an amp is the best way to do it. You can hook it up as is but it'll sound like hammered dogshit and won't hit worth a damn

Ive even tried it with one of pioneers decks, in which the 50w x4 (supposedly) internal amp can be bridged over in the back two channels to run 70wx1... needless to say it sounded like ass. I def. reccomend getting an amp, even if it is a small one.
