    Started Painting My Wheels

I'am now in the process of painting my original LX-i wheels, I have one finished so far and used Dupli-Color's Gunmetal and clear coat. Just thought i would let everyone know if you're considering painting them ..DO IT ...It's worth the 20 bucks to do it. (Thats including 2 cans of gunmetal, 1 can clear and sand paper) ..So far the one wheel i've done looks like a totally different wheel. ...Completely sets the car off! (I just hope it lasts a long time) :super:

Alright, All i have is a webcam so the only way to take the pic is through my window so it prolly won't do it much justice ..heh Im sure you'll get an idea though. But i will hook the cam up and take the pic if there is enough light left outside by the time i've installed it ..If not i'll take the pic tomorrow

That looks really good! Good Job!! keep us posted on how the paint holds up against the elements and daily driving.

My new wheels are a kind of scratched up-at least one is. Would this be a feasible method to get ride of those scratches or is it best left entrusted to professional shops?

Thanks Alex & cowboy, As for doing this to get rid of those scratches i would say yes. Compared to professional it's much cheaper and it still looks really good, Much better when you see them for real and not in a pic. As far as the paint holding up, I think it'll last a while. I ran my finger nail across the wheel after it dried and it didnt scratch off any at all. ...Nature will do alot more than my nail though ..heh

Well my SI rims are hopefully done today. Had them professionally painted wheel silver. I got my digi cam docking port so I can just set the cam on it and get them on here. I just ordered tires from tirerack.com 185/70 TR13 Yokohama Avid T4.

I paid a $100 total including labor. But $20 for the bead blasting that I did myself. And the SI rims were $50. The tires I just bought were $186. Chrome valve stems and caps $10.

i painted my wheels a while back. been at least a couple months now. i only got my pics on here a few days ago. they look white, but they are grey. mine are holding up great. they get dirty, but nothing some water and a rag can't clean off. when i did mine i put on 2 coats of the clear coat for each wheel.

    Powder Coat

If you've got a few extra bucks you might want to consider getting the wheels powder coated instead of using paint. It looks great and is super durable. You can get it in just about any color including metallic silver.

Up here in the great white north where we have real beer, it cost me about $30 Canuck Bucks to get each of my rims powder coated, I think it would be about 23-24 dollars murican.

    Don't start that shit.

Lagers do not count as real beer. Therefore...
Ireland and European beers for that matter are better than Canadian beer.
