First, what color is the smoke, this will help.

Second, your A/F ratio may be off to cause this.

lower your fuel mixture. you should have no smoke at all.
    did you keep the choke?

Is the choke flap fully open, i.e. vertical?

..what do u expect then, tie it up open with a string! Now if where u live gets cold in the morning, u have to make the choke work somehow.

lol dude do what i did(only if you are missing the venturi jet screw) put a thick a$$ piece of wire, big enough to fit the gap and bend it over the top of the carb under the box. bolt the box down and it holds it open about 1/8" open always.

LOL too bad I can't take pics, cause now i can't find my digicam sux like hell

remove the choke plate. this way you won't have any problems.
the choke plate is on the top of the carb. remove 2 screws and pull it out.

    you shouldn't be smoking.
if you are smoking all the time, and it is grey almost black smoke, your piston rings are gone.
engine will need to be rebuild.
    Alex.

    Serious note.

I have the same problem. I will smoke in the morning on startup. My choke plate is f*****. I had to hold it open with a screw just to be able to start the car in the morning. Eventually I will be getting the Weber Carb so it won't matter.
I have a spare carb that I might be rebuilding here soon.
