stomp it= sputtering ( choke problems?)

i cant give it more than 1/2 throttle without major sputtering! Is it true that the choke closes a bit when revved? if so my choke linkage is wrong! anyone got choke pics?

oh, it seemed to make a differance when my dad partialy closed the choke!

you carb needs to be rebuild.
you can get rebuild kit from any autoparts store.
    good luck.

What??? Are you missing the rod or the entire linkage? what did Mantis do to the carb?

You need the accel pump, but you really don't need the accel pump to run the carb because all it does is add more fuel when you press the gas, but it doesn't controll the gas when you're not adding throttle.

    Talking well, were 90% there!

well after driving to BFE to get a parts carb, i fixed the linkage! IT WORKED..... almost. It still seems to be just a tad lean!(much much better thought) I also smell gas under the hood, i think the bottom plate to the accel pump is leaking! do i need manual secondarys?

you can do manual secondary very easy. but it will lean out even more when stomp on it, because you will be forcing a lot more air and not enough fuel.

yea I am getting pissed about that b/c I have the mech. secondary and I can't upgrade the accel pump jet, maybe I'll have to rig a little injector on top of the carb

    spontaneous carb problem no. 143

im getting tired of posting about my carb!

    1) noticably "holds back" power above 4grand while driving
    2) starts sputtering above 4grand in park when reved; it revs fine up to that point! i have not messed with the carb at all!

    unrelated problem but still unsolved!

    1) when cold, the car misses, spits, smokes, and sputters for the first min or so its running! this is a consistant problem and is very bad! I goes away after A: i hold it at 3grand for 30sec or B: let it idle for a few!

i need help PLEASE!!!!!!! b/f i do and efi swap!

do the EFI swap my man or get the Webber Carb conversion. THe stock carb is of no use atleast after 15 years. i know it does not help your problem.

HAHAHAHA... that is exactly what you said to me a few weeks ago about my carb problem shepherd79. what... do you just copy old posts and re-post them on other peoples threads? is that why your post count is so high? :lol im just kidding of course... but yea, rebuilding the carb is probably the answer to almost all carb problems out there. either that, or replace it with a weber.
