    stupid EGR system

well, awhile ago, being frustrated by the fact that i dont have the knowledge to remove my vacuum lines (cant use the how-to, mines a 2G), ive started pulling and plugging stuff i dont need on my carb. i started with the egr. i pulled the line going to the egr valve, and plugged the stem coming from the magic black box on the pass side. does this effectively stop my carb from recirculating exhuast, or do i need to remove the egr pipes, and the egr box on top of the manifold? thanks.

No you need to plug the actuall EGR pipe going from the exhaust to the intake.
I'm your local R&D nut. Fabracting, welding, tuning and breaking my stuff so you don't have to.

what if i just connect the egr valve directly to the manifold, bypassing all the vacuum switches? will the valve then remain closed? and if so, will this cause a problem?

    It will stay OPEN!
If u want it disabled, just unplug rubber line and plug the line coming from black box.

thats what i did already actually, but Justin86 said that i had to remove the whole egr pipe. that doesnt look fun. anyway, im going to start removing all the egr stuff now, the large egr lines, the egr box, and whatever the egr vacuum lines go to. thanks.

If you remove the gas line and the valve then you'll need to cap off the port on the header and on the intake manifold... it's better just to disable the valve... unless you are installing a header or something.

yea, i dont plan on installing headers. i am going to install a weber though, as soon as i find some good prices. im going to remove all the egr stuff and cap all the necessary lines. its good to know i dont have to remove those egr pipes... they dont look friendly.
