today on the way back from the store i was just crusing at about 40 - 45 and suddenly i heard a pop pop sorta sound from underneath my car, i could feel it to cuz the vibration in the seat. it sounded like a backfire or something, car is still running, what should i check?? what could have caused this??
did the car hesiatated , rpm dropped , car jerked when that happened ! did it happen again ?

maybe your timing is slipping if your car backfired. check the distributor.
what do i check on the distributer? i know nothing about seting the timing and shit
just pop the cover off the distributor to see if the contact points are clean without any copper deposits. the deposit is usually a red soot kinda stuff. next dont touch the distributor at all, but bring the engine to TDC (top dead center) and see if the striker (or whatever they call it) is on the first cyl position.
