    Se-i amp and new deck...

I was just thinking... instead of rewiring all the speakers with my new alpine deck I am putting in... could I not just run the stock se-i amp off of a preout on the deck???

I believe the stock SE-i amp can only be used with Bose systems.

It was in a previous post that stated you can use the Bose amps/speakers with an aftermarket deck as long as you hook the blue remote wire on the accord's harness to the deck's remote wire so the amps turn on.

Don't use the speakers without the amp, they're something like 1 ohm and will do some damage to your deck.

Well then. I didnt know they would actually damage the deck. I plan on getting new speakers soon enough... hmm.

If they are one ohm (you can test this by putting an ohm meter across the speakers after disconnecting them) they will more then likely damage the deck since most aftermarket decks are only 4-8 ohm stable.

I don't know how likely it will be that the manufacture will cover blown outputs due to obvious over current.

Personally I'd just bypass the bose crap. The sound would probably better and your output power would probably be greater as well

That would mean waiting for replacement speakers also then.

excactly. I was told that I could probably run the speakers at 10ohms for now until I get new speakers. What are your thoughts on that??

I know it will be somewhat quieter, but I have a 60W x 4 deck, so it wont be tooo bad till I can afford new speakers

but hopefully they arent 1 ohm or 10 ohms

I'd definitely check them with a meter before I went any further. Who knows they may turn out to be 4-8ohm but you never know if you don't check. Nothing else if you just have to use the deck RIGHT now grab a cheap ass set of speakers from salvage or off ebay or whatever. In the 8 days the threads been going you could have already had a set shipped to you. I'm kinda riding the fence on this one since I went without a radio at all the first 3 mths I had my car and I kinda have a do it right the first time mentallity
