86 LXi Needs New Engine

Head gasket is blown.

I am trying to decide between having it rebuilt and putting a new engine in it. If the price difference between a rebuild and putting a better engine in it is not too high, I would go for the swap.

What kind of engine could I put in this car without any modifications? Im talking pull and drop... I don't know a lot about cars... I just need to know what to tell the guy that I have work on it. =)

Is it possible to toss a 3G prelude engine in without any major difficulty?

'Lude engine will not fit. The easiest engine to swap in is the JDM b20a, and this one only. Only found in overseas 3rd gen Accords. Even this would not be a "Drop in" swap, there would still be work to do, and it is very difficult to come accross these engines. Fixing your engine is the easiest route to go, by far. if its only the head gasket, its not a "big deal" if the Head is ok.
