Will an 86 Lx-i ecu work in an 88 Lx-i? If you know for sure that it will let me know, I was thinking it might not since one is fi and the other is carbed... but I may be wrong??

Umm, the i on the end of the model means fuel injection.
The LX and the DX had a carb. The LXi and SEi were injected.
But anyways if they are both injected it should work. I am not 100% sure but it is worth a try.

No, it will probably not work. There were quite a few different ECU's, and you have to just match the numbers on your current ECU (and they have to match EXACTLY). I do know that the 88 LX-i and the 89 LX-i used different ECU's are they're not interchangable.
