    Check my sig. My tires are too small so it looks a little off, but it's a 1.5 inch drop.

    Here's mine. The H&Rs claimed a 1.5" drop but with the Konis set with the higher (~.5") perch in the back I went down 1.3" front and 1.1" rear.

    hey BITESIZE your car is really nice. I like those wheels. The roof rack is kind of odd, but other than that your car is really clean. The car would be perfect if you removed the stickers, roof rack, and the pin striping IMO. But to each his own. Still a really nice looking car.

    Has anyone on the board just used lowering springs and the stock struts. If so how does the car handle compared to stock.

    Many people have tried. Typically you start out with a bouncy, floaty ride that gets worse as the stiffer springs wear out the stock dampers at an accelerated rate. Softer lowering springs will work better than stiffer ones, but you'll still have the same problems. The bottom line is if you're going to use stiffer lowering springs you need to use stronger struts as well unless you are only lowering your car for looks and don't care at all how it rides.

    How much does a 1.5" lowering cost?
    Also, do you have to change your driving habits to accomidate?(sp)

    cost depends on what springs you get. my Neuspeeds were around $150-$180, i don't remember, and then it depends on what struts you get. Tokico blues are around $60 each, but the right parts will cost more.

    as far as accomodating, it's not that big of a drop but i notice that i scrape on stuff more. just go over speed bumps slower, and be more careful driving in cities.

    I am in the process of doing this now:

    H&R springs ~ $156 at www.tirerack.com
    Front Koni shocks ~ $214 at www.tirerack.com
    Rear Tokico shocks ~ $112 at www.shox.com
    plus shipping for above = about $512

    Yes, I really did get Koni shocks 2 days ago. I have received, examined, fondled and drooled on them, but I don't know how many they have left. Could be none.

    I also purchased front and rear LXi sway bays with all associated hardware for $30 from the local U-Pull it. YMMV.

    I am installing this stuff this weekend so to answer your questions:

    1) about $500 if you do your own labor.

    2) yes, I will be driving much faster around corners! :smokin:

    mine was less than $400 but i used Tokico and KYB shocks, bought all the parts in the store so i payed no shipping, paid cost for my springs (what the store pays) and did all the labor myself.

    other things to consider, i spent $12 each on lower control arm bolts because mine were seized and broke. i also had to buy new bushings. these are the bolts and bushings that hold the pinch fork to the lower control arm.

    Here's a after/before picture on my car with H&R 1.5" springs. As you can see, it actually may take a little effort to tell the difference. Sorry about the picture quality, I took them in the evening and I had to screw with the gamma and brightness to make them useful.

    The measured drop was slightly under 1 inch, all the way around.

    Other mods: Koni fronts/Tokico rears, LXi front and rear sway bars and poly front sway bar bushings.

    I also replaced a rear upper control arm.

    Overall, the handling improvement was dramatic. Very tight, and responsive with little body roll and the ride is firm but not harsh or bouncy.

    That picture is way old. The roof rack was on the car when I bought it, but is handy for snowboarding! Stickers and pinstriping are gone and have been for about 4 months now. Oh yeah, I sold those rims and new ones are in the mail. PICTURES SOON!!!

    Eibach springs = $220
    Tokicos= $280
    Rims= $600
    Tires =$400

    Driving habit did not change.......which I love!

    hmm, maybe i should think of a drop for my car. i wanted to go 2in. considering i have 14s with 195 60s, i think 2in would be more noticeable with smaller tires. but, theres that scraping problem i worry about. anyone have that problem like major bad?
