    Putting 15's on an 89 lx-i...

Yup, I wanna do it. I think the answers to all my questions are "It doesn't matter." But, just for fun...

Will there be any uneven wear or anything because they're 1" bigger than stock??

Any huge effects on mileage reading on the odometer due to the bigger diameter??

    Clearance should be fine, right??

Any other input is appreciated. I just don't wanna be surprised when I go to strap on some 15's.

There will not be much of a diff at all. Going 1" bigger does very little change, in the driving, and feel. Clearance you will be A ok.

    Started with a 89 Accord LXI - 96 Acura TL - 2003 Acura CL Type S..

it's not the wheel size it's the tire size. you need to use 205/50/15s and you'll be fine. they are almost exactly the same size as stock tires. my speedometer is just about perfect.

sidenote: The oem tire on SI and GSR rims is 195/55-15, that's a proper plus size for our cars to, so nothing changes size wise as far as rolling diameter. Also the mentioned 205/50-15 is the other proper plus size for 15's. Use either of those tire sizes and enjoy.

    Sounds good. Now...

what spare?? Does the donut have to be from a 15" donor car?? I doubt I'll buy a 15" steelie cuz it won't fit in the well right. I just thought of that.

For the same amount of effort you could have written.

If you followed the tire size's Jim says to use in his post above, you can use any size stock spare tire you want, cause it will actually be the same overall diameter. So no worries

To you dumb people ask dumb question's. I say dumb people distruct, smart people construct.

Dont' get si's or gsr rims... Get Rotas if you want 15" rims... there lighter and will look better, and you'll spend about the same for either ones.

I just think that si rims should stay on si's, but not true anymore since they are on the new ex's, and gsr's should stay on gsr's... I just think it's weird to mix and match...

The Si rims look really nice on our cars. Sometimes it is cool to see another OEM wheel put on a car that didn't come with that style, but looks good with it.
Good bye to the 1989 DX Type R. Hello 2001 LX.

just to answer some of your other questions:

There will be no un-even tire wear unless you drop the car and don't have some sort of camber correction.

You should not have any clearance problems, or "rubbing" unless your offset is something rediculous. Anything like 35, 32, or less and even at stock height, you'll be rubbing on hard cornering.

Also, one thing not asked about, but should be mentioned is that your gas mileage will go down. This is due mainly in part to more surface friction. Now you'll have wider tires, which means more surface contact from each tire which means more friction. Another thing that helps account for the less fuel-mileage is the added weight of the wheels. Most likely your 15's w/tires are going to weight more then your 14's with tires.

...and in the words of Forest G-ump.... "...and that's all I have to say 'bout that."

What about 195/50/15 sized tires on the 15" rims? I'm looking at a set and that's what they're wrapped in.

The stock accord rolling diameter is:
    (25.4*14)+(.6*2*195)=355.6+234 = 589.6 mm

The diameter for the tires that you're looking at is:
    (25.4*15)+(.5*2*195) = 381+195 = 576 mm

    576/589.6 = .9769

So if you switched to the 195-50-15s your speedometer would read about 2.5% high and you would effectively have 2.5% lower gearing (slightly better acceleration).

With 205-50-15 you'd have 586/589.6 = 0.9939 (only 0.7% smaller than stock). Either would work; it's up to you how to compromise the speedometer/odometer accuracy with the lower gearing and possibly lower cost of the 195s.
