    Question groundcontrols coilovers and what????

i'm been looking on all the threads and i've been tring to find the right setup for my suspension. i know there are no more konis so what else will give me a stiff but good ride with the groundcontrol coilovers. also round about what will be the cost for the setup. thx.

revalved Bilstiens are the next step. i don't know what that costs.

    fyi

i would rather have a 7" drop with 500 lbs springs and stock struts than use revalved bilstiens with ground controls again. i was lowered to no gap in the front (bilstiens were only in the front) and i bounced worse than anything else, it was miserable. but now i have less than 1 finger gap on konis and its PERFECT. so if u have to get bilstiens get them revalved to match koni specs.

btw jim had some insights as to why this might be, and i think it had to do with the linear rate of the GC springs vs the progressive rate of the h&r's he was using when he got them revalved.

just a heads up before u revalve bilstiens too stiff and u STILL bounce.

i admit i haven't read everything on this, but don't you get the bilstiens revalved to your specs, i.e. revalved for the spring rates of the springs you have, or is it just a universal revalving?

My understanding is you can get them revavled to whatever specs you want.

That's right. However bobafet stated that they bounce. As far as I understand while talking to him in the past, they are tooo STIFF.

It's not a case of underdamping... maybe over damping to where it feels like running over rocks... I'm talkin race car stiff. The linear springs will make the slightest bump feel HUGE. however with the Progressive springs. they would be nice and smoth but at a certion point past a given compression they will tighten up and get hard.

    yeah josh is more right....

it was a OVERLY HARSH RIDE...

any inconsistancies in the road made it bob up and down, and i would literally hit my head cause it was so stiff. now on a perfect road that setup would be sweet, but i am not blessed with a perfect roadway

just felt bouncy, but technically it wasnt. just keep that in mind before u drop 700 on revalved bilstiens

A 7" Drop??? Is that even possible on a 3G? If so you better live in Kansas or someplace really flat, or stick to a track.

I kinda figure with the ground controls that you would get bounce no matter what you use they rate on the is just unreal. I figured even with the Koni's you'd have some bounce using the GC's. I just put Susp tech 2" on mine with Koni's and they are REALLY firm. Of course I have NO bounce but as stiff as they are I do feel things in the road, Oh well looks like H&R's are next :lol

I had Gc's and koni's and at the drop I was at. which was around 2.75-3.0, the front would bounce but it was VERY subtle. The rear was perfect. However, if I were to raise the car to around 2.25 or so. The struts work alot better. All becuase the strut is able to work in the compression stroke area it is designed to work in.

every 3g seems to have a different stock ride height. for instance ambers is lower than mine was stock, and with h&rs matts car is WAY lower than mine (same springs) so who knows.. but i know i dont want to go much lower!

the reason for getting coilovers is i'm turning my car into a showcar so i want to raise and lower my car as needed. also i want something that will give me a good ride. i still drive mt car around and my car club goes to a pretty good amout of shows so i don't want the bounce. from all the other thread i thought that there were no more konis?? are there some hidden in a warehouse that we don't know of or something???

I posted about two weeks ago that tirerack.com had six sets left in stock.(fronts)

Give em a try they might have them.

    *edit*

I just checked their site and it lists them in stock.

Well you can talk to Jim and see what it takes to make the 92-00 Civic struts fit.

Well what is the measurment from the bottom of the fender to the ground. I'm thinking that stock is about 25.5" and a little taller in the rear. I will check tomorrow and my friends 3g.

Well only the Koni Reds will fit the 3G. If you talk to Sean and find out what is need to make the 92-00 Civic struts fit then you can get better stuff then the Reds.
