    Vacuum advance bearing replacement

K guys I've gotten into working up my hatch again and this time around it's getting a fresh dizzy. Unfortunately I have broken the vacuum advance bearing removing it and was wondering (after 2 days searching) if anyone has an answer to this problem. I know I could pay to have something work, but if there is an easier alternative to cash bank fab work I'd really like to know. I've got 5 dizzy's I can renew completely if I could get this one bearing down.

Is there a source for this piece I can't/haven't found?

Stoked to have my hatchy going strong. Got everything I need, but a reliable dizzy. PLEASE help me with any info you can supply

I know you can get a brand new aftermarket dizzy from richporter, thats what I have and someone else on here just got one too, they use all brand new parts, so no old stuff in them

It's the bearing outside the plate that the vacuum moves. Has a yellow plastic ring around it.

Not a part that usually breaks so I would just grab a donar dist. for the bearing, from the j yard

    Re: Vacuum advance bearing replacement

I've got plenty already. I went ahead and cleaned up a good one, but this is something that won't last forever and for a stock piece we need to find a fix for this. I might go and visit my bearing guy again and see if he can do anything.
Went to him today looking for that crazy 12.5 main bearing... I wonder how difficult it would be to shave a 12.7 to fit on there... hmmm

    Re: Vacuum advance bearing replacement

since rich porter makes all new pieces for the dizzys on both the carb and FI cars, I wonder if they would sell individual parts?

I don't know if it will help, but I just sent an email to them asking if they would be interested in supplying internal distributor parts to us here

    Very nice.
Got my seals in today. Anyone know if the bearing is supposed to be pressed on? I can't (without mechanical help) just press them on. Is this normal?

    Re: Vacuum advance bearing replacement

Yeah... so the first bearing got the cold treatment and now won't move at all, so gonna try a different shaft and keep moving forward. Anyone got any info on the weight bearing/plastic sleeves? Not one of the ones I've taken apart has a descent set of them. Heard something about some brass fittings I can't locate now. Just need a source to get them or how to go about making them/ sizes maybe?
