    what would you do?

ok everyone, im new to this forum, just came from hondaforums.com, but they recommended here cause right now there's a lot of bullshit going on there...

just a couple of questions to start off i guess, first of all, i just got an 88 accord LXi a20a 5 spd on the 14th, but already im thinking of getting rid of it. people tell me that they are not very good for putting mods into, so i've been thinking about getting a 90-93 integra with the b18, cause people tell me that they're easier to swap, and there's more mods out there for them. What do you think i should do?

Also, where would be the best place to look on the internet for accord mods... ie:exhaust, header, intake, blah blah blah

    thanks
Imports can be fast but nothing compares to the rumble of detroit muscle

well my friend welcome to the board. first off
drop a b18 into a 3g! you get a baddas sleeper with plenty of room and all the kick of a b18.
headers--DC headers and pace setter headers are available. DC are more explensive but from people experience here....PACESETTER SUCKS. just the world thats been circulating around here lately. decide for yourself or ask around.
exhaust---2.25 or 2.5 inch piping run out through any universal high flow cat to any universal performance exaust. you want a bit of back pressure for any engine unless you got turbo. turbos hate back presure.
CAMS-you can regrind your cams throguh COLT CAMS for about 100 bucks to get better performance.
intake--you have an lxi so you have a fuel injected model. there are a bunch of threads on the board about how to make a custom intake using integra CAI [cold air intakes] or geting someone to bed some pipe for you to make one. for CAI or SR [short ram] intakes you have to find something for a different car and modify it a bit. it really isnt that hard. trust. just follow the instructions on the board.

theres a few peices of information for you to savor.
3g's and all hondas/acuras come from a long line of dependible and well bet economic cars. 3gs hold up very well. the last long and are very dependible. for every thread on this board about one not starting or something else wrong there are a thousand good days of good starts and good experiences. there arent a lot of after market parts for our cars. most everythign has to be done custom. there are turbos in the works for our cars which should be finished in the next few months. being produced by one of our members 'SEAN' [user name and real name] and they are really being produced. not just 'ohh im gonna make those!' like you willa actualy be able to buy them.

our cars have the a20a1 or a20a3 engine. JDM has the b20.
the beautiful thing about the a20 block is that it is cast iron. heavy as hell but stronger then hell. you dont need to sleeve the pistons when putting boost in. one member actualy runs 35 lbs of boost in his a20 throguh a custom turbo.

they are great cars and if in good condition and kept up well with never fail you. however like i said. not much is in the line of after market. most anything universal will fit....rims, exhaust parts, ect...and there are indiglos and special projection lamps you can get for our cars via ebay. bodykits, intakes and various other performance/appearance parts are made easily bvut do require custom work.

in my opinion they are great cars. they hold up well in accidents and are great performance wise. its up too you and your wallet if you want the teg. but the 3g is a great car.

also...directions for this stuff and information is all available by using the seach feature and the FAQ and HOW TO sections of the board....
and dont get turned off by all the talk or custom work. it jsut means that your car is going to be strickly you. everything you have to do to this car has to come form inspiration. there isnt a list of mods yoiu can pick and choose from. but thats what sets our cars aside from being the same old civic with a whale tail fin, same old body kit, altezas and such. people make CUSTOM lights on this board. soo much nicer then altezas....but anyways....bottom line is that this car will stand out.

go do a member search for OLDSCHOOLSWAP
go look at the pics of his car and the meets hes been too. thats custom right there man. or PEARLDROP

    happy hunting and welcome again...

    JK

Yeah look around you'll see there is lots of stuff to do to the car and remember nobody expects a 3g accord to hand them there ass, but when it happens everyone wants to know how.

Yes tegs and civics are a lot easier to do stuff with bolt on upgrades up the wazuu. But not nearly as origonal. Wait for seans turbo kit to be finished. Our engines are far better for bost than most honda engines.

Welcome to the board! Where in MN are you located? I live in Mankato. You can do so many things to 3geez it's a lot better than owning a car everyone has (civic, teg, crx) for some reason those 3 cars just like tripled the amounts of them.

Here's my site with a lot of pictures and things you can do to your Accord. http://www.cardomain.com/id/mikes89accordlx

I didn't say having a stock car is bad I just said everyone has a civic, teg, or crx in my town.

    Sorry if I offended you.
