    i need help

i have an 88 dx, it is stick. when i start it up in the morning it idles at about 3000, and it takes a while to come down. after it is warmed up and i am driving if i push in the clutch/brake the rpms drop and it dies if i dont give it gas right of way. it does this whenever i slow down or push in the clutch. after if dies it starts back up. and sometimes when i am driving around it seems like the car picks up by itself, i am coasting and the rpm rises and the speed increases. the idle will rise to 3000 when i push the clutch in to stop and will not come down. please give me any advice you have, thanks.

Well I the idle on the stock carbs are supposed to be 800-2500 rpms. It sounds like you need to adjust the idle and air/fuel mixture. Spray some carb cleaner in the carb and on the carb throttle linkage. It sounds like you have a sticky throttle or it just needs to be adjusted.
