Intake Q? about box in Bumper

Ok guys, i've had a short ram intake for over a year now and my car runs pretty hot after driving for about 20min. I was wondering if there's a intake box down in the bumper like a resonator that restricts the airflow coming up thru that tube by the battery. I ask this b/c my buddies 93integra has a box down in his bumper that he removed and made a hell of a difference in airflow and made it alot louder. I just want my car runnin cooler so is there a way i can help my engine run cooler?
    Thanx for the help,

    Chris

since you are running short ram, it has nothing to do with running hot. something wrong with your cooling system. i am sure you need to flush it and refill it.

the box is a resonator and it is just a chamber to filter out sound frequencys... it doesnt take in any air from there, its just a closed box.

Ok, that makes sense to me. Where should i go to get my cooling system flushed and filled? Any suggestions and is it quick like an oil change? Also, can ya guys tell me more about the thermostat b/c i may sound dumb but i wouldn't know how to go about doing anything with the thermostat and how to fix or whatever.
Thanx and suggestions would be appreciated,

    Chris

well, since you don't know your way around the engine, i would say take it to a mechanic and let him replace the thermostat and fluch they cooling system. it may cost you, but in long run you won't have headache of trying to figure out where is everything and hot to replace it.

how is the water level? if the stat is frozen (they are inexpensive so i would just replace it if you havent already) then the level wont be correct but if it is low you might wanna put more coolant in it. also, if you think there may be any leaks, when youre at the shop see if they can pressure test the radiator for leaks and make sure your hoses are in good shape. you might have a spongy hose that is collapsed, those restricting the coolant flow. and last but not least, make sure your fans are kicking on. if not you may have a bad sensor. good luck!

Hey, do you think if you remove that bumper cover with the stock air intake it will improve performance?

I took the box away from in the bumper and took the car for a drive, i noticed a slight improvement in performance and the car also runs nicer. I put the box back on but put a few holes in it, it runs smooth now. Where is the intake for the air? in the fender somewhere?
