Weber DCOE Setup, 5-Speed, & More

    Hey, all!

I haven't been around these parts in a while since we finished the Grassroots Motorsports competition. However, the 3geez race car has since been parted and sent to the great recycler in the sky so there are some parts for sale:
    • Weber DCOE 40mm carbs and A20 intake manifold. This is the prototype setup we used in the competition. It works very well and runs solid. There are no aircleaners or airhorns and one of the venturis is missing (fell off during the drag race), however these parts can be picked up new for around $120. Also there is no vacuum access so you may need to tap the runners if you want power brakes and HVAC accessories. The carbs were cleaned and rebuilt 10 months ago and are in great shape.
I'm asking for $250 for the carbs and $150 for the manifold.
    • Taillight lenses, windshield wiper motors, and headlight motors. $10 each.
    • 5-Speed conversion: This includes the tranny, linkage, axles, clutch (relatively new). I'd like to get $500 for the whole setup.

Pictures: Check out the gallery at http://www.crcmotorsports.com/galler...umName=forsale for pictures of everything except the tranny.

Shipping: Buyer pays shipping. The tranny setup is obviously more expensive to ship, but I can deliver it to San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Houston, or inbetween.

If you have any questions please email or IM me.

    thanks!

Hey everyone, this is a great deal for a plug and play DCOE setup! I paid total of just a bit under $600 when I did my setup (which I did very econically), so getting the whole thing for $400 is a great deal even if you have to add in around $100 for a few missing parts.

    Brian, a few questions:
    1. Does the design of the manifold take into account the 15% forward tilt of the A20A engine? The DCOEs should sit with 3-5% of upward tilt, so the manifold should tilt downward (toward the firewall) at about 10-12%.

    2. Do you have dyno #s for the car after the DCOEs were installed?

    3. What size chokes (main venturis) are in the carbs?

I actually paid $260 last november for the carbs from Italy and $150 to have the aluminum machined. The welding was done by a friend, but it would have been quite costly if I didn't know someone with the right equipment.

Unfortunately I did not read the section of the Weber book about tilt! The runners are, however, made to the length that is calculated to be best for the A20s displacement.

I also don't have dynos for the car with the intake. I used a crane Hi-6 ignition, Fireball coil, pacesetter headers, and an open exhaust that would have all impacted the overall performance. Not to mention the fact that we didn't get the car even running until the weekend before we were to leave for the competition. It was better than stock, though!

As a side note, there's a guy listing a 3Geez with another weber setup on the http://www.grassrootsmotorsports.com site in the classifieds.

Yeah, that's my car. I'm glad you mentioned it so I can have the ad removed. I "need" the car now to get me around while I work on my Porsche 914. Plus, I found that the more I thought about sellin' it the more sentimental I got about it. I'm a sap

Haha, The "poor man's porsche"... nice score, as long as you don't need to drop to the real poor porsche, the 111.

I've been doing a bunch of reading and it seems that the tilt doesn't make that much diference (according to one school of though anyway). Any how I have seen a setup on a old school toyota where the carbs had to be at a 30° angle and it ran. You have to play with the float settings and you loose some bowl volume (dcoe's have massive bowls so its not that big of a deal). Hey maybe I'll fix up that steel b16a dcoe manifold I have and sell it off.. I need the money for pistons and rods and other things that will make my car come back stronger.

Hi! I PM'd you regarding the manifold.

Also, if anyone is interested, the 5-speed parts are on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2440348750 Again, this is what you would need including pedal assembly, clutch, tranny, axles, linkage, and cable.

If the av's in those carbs are 4.5s and the carbs don't use the slip in air horns then I have a spare one laying around if some one wants it.

I don't think shipping will be that bad. This company has been recommended to me by a guy that ships Jeep parts:
    http://www.forwardair.com/locations/falocations.htm
If you can pick the parts up at one of their stations, it can probably be shipped on a pallet for less the $80. I'll call to get a firm quote today. If you want it to your door, it'll likely be closer to $200.

Well, the tranny and manifold are sold. I still have the pedals, shift linkage, flywheel and clutch, drive shafts, two heads, various lights and motors (headlight and wipers), and an EFI manifold and harness available.
I also still have some of the black/tan interior from an LXI available that will go in the trash if no one wants to pick it up. I tried selling it earlier in the year but shipping seemed to be a mystery and required too effort to sell considering how much it was worth.
    Make an offer on anything.
Shipping always seems to be the spoiler, so visit http://ups.com guess at the weight and size, and say that the origin is 78681. This will give you a ballpark shipping cost. As a point of reference, a transmission weighs 69lbs and is 24"x24"x24". Heads are lighter and narrower. Pedals are light but the same size as the tranny. The black dashboard is not very heavy, but it is as wide as your car. etc, etc.

Are you going to the SASCA autocross 11/16? If so, bring what you think it's worth and I'll bring it and that damn bumper with me!
Also, you'd better be prepared to run that Accord!
