    A20A3 Stock Torque

Ok, maybe I'm just too stupid to find it, but I've spent since 3 using the search to find if anyone posted the stock torque numbers on an A20A3, specifically an 88-89... And I went looking around the net and I got numbers ranging from 109 Lbs/ft @5100 rpms all the way to 169 lbs./ft @4000 rpms.

Now, can anyone tell me a true number, I had always thought it was 122 lbs/ft torque, but i may be wrong after finding all these other numbers.

they are both right. Jareds site lists torque at 122ft lbs And Pauls lists it at 169 Nm. 169Nm=124.64800323169999 ft lbs

What they don't tell you is that the specs for the A20A1 (carbed) is when the carb is tuned way down for emmissions... Everyone that knows how to tweak a carb can pull way more then 120hp out of the stock carb.

I'm not all knowing but I can read, and my Chilton says a little different.

There is no A20A1 or A20A3 listed for '86
    87-88 A20A3 (EFI) - 110 hp, 114 ft. lbs
    (per Chilton #30150 pg.3-10)

Aside from that your both the same. I'm not trying to flame or any thing just thought I would throw that out there.:smokin:

Well Chiltons is both right and wrong. Then don't list '86 as having A20A1 or A20A3 cuz they didn't exist yet. '86 used different serial numbering from '87-89, and they were referred to as BT (EFI) and BS (carb). They were exactly the same engines, just different serial numbering ('86 BS was exactly the same as 87-89 A20A1, and '86 BT was exactly the same as 87 A20A3). I posted A20 for 86 as well for one because I didn't feel like making seperate lines just for 86 when it's the exact same specs, and A20A1/3 is a more common designation between carb and EFI.

    Now what you posted above is incorrect in a way. '86-87 BT/A20A3 had 110hp, 114 ft. lbs. 88-89 A20A3 had 120hp, 122 ft. lbs. All 86-89 BS/A20A1 had 98hp, 109 ft. lbs

Trust me on this, I know I'm right

You may be right, I'm not going to get in to a debate over you vs. the book. I have seen the shop books be wrong before. I just thought I would throw this out there and see where it went. Besides, dose it really matter, where only talking about a couple of 15 year old ponys anyway.:smokin:
