Honda Accord '89 LX SOHC 2.0L Carbed

Can some1 plz tell me all the parts of my engine that i can upgrade to make my car faster and give it more power? Does anybody know what DOHC and SOHC mean? Is there any easy way to convert my car to EFI besides a custom intake? Is my fuel rail and PSi regulator upgradeable or not. AEM makes a '89 Accord rail and regulator but on NOPI online its only for the LXi model. Is the LXi EFI?

    dual overhead cam DOHC
    single overhead cam SOHC

To convert to EFI you need an engine wiring harness, a complete intake manifold, ecu, fuel lines and filter, and probably some other stuff I can't think of right now. There are several detailed threads a search could pull up if you're interested.

Your carb pump sends fuel at about 10 psi, and EFI car runs off about 40 psi.

The LXi and SEi were fuel injected (that's what the 'i' stands for).

You do not have a fuel rail, that is on the fuel injectied model. You have no pressure regulator either, but you can get one. If you look in the howto section there is a thread explaining the conversion to fuel injection.

Performance parts. Do a search for more detail. There are threads on most of these topics.

    Eagle connecting rods
    Forged Pistons
    Headers, Pacesetter or DC Sports
Free flowing muffler, Dynomaxx is nice and cheap.
Weber Carbureator, much nicer than stock.
88-91 Civic Air Box (Modified) and a cold air intake.
MSD Ignition pricy or just replace the coil.
Nitrous Oxide, I highly reccomend against this.
    Turbocharger

Here are some stock parts you can tweak

Regrind the camshaft for more power
    Lighten the flywheel
Headwork, Port and polish, cc chaimbers, port matching, etc...
Port and polish the intake manifold
Remove the A/C, this shaves 50lbs
Remove power steering, this frees up about 5hp.
Rip out the vaccum lines for emissions. in the howto section
Get rid of the catalytic converter.
    Remove the EGR system.

Oh yea, if you get more power you should definitly upgrade the brakes and suspension. There is lots of info on that, do a search.

Yea Kroy has pretty much listed all the mods possible to an engine without spending over $6K.
