I'm your local R&D nut. Fabracting, welding, tuning and breaking my stuff so you don't have to.
did you get the car used? if you did, the previous owner probably put the wrong donut size in there. it may be the right lug pattern, but not the size. my factory donut was a fine fit for the front. but i changed that to a nicer looking and newer looking 94-97 teg spare. and welcome to the board. nice to see another newbie. i say we should pimp those 3 geez stickers to the fullest so we draw more members in here. of course, your car has to be absolutely immaculate and not rice or else we'll be getting some haters in here.Originally posted by kelli217
Then why do they even make donut spares if you can't use them on half the wheels?
Yes, I got the car used. I think I'm actually the third owner of it. To be honest, it's a bit of a beater, and I don't really have the income to fix it up very much, so I don't think I'm going to be putting a 3geez sticker on it.
Anyway, my question "why do they even make donut spares" was a response to the statement that you're not supposed to use donuts on the drive wheels. I kind of already assumed that the 13" donut was the result of somehow getting the wrong size spare at some point.
Anyway, I have two new tires on the front now. I need to get an alignment, because both of the old tires were wearing on the inside edge of the tire, but that's going to have to wait until I can afford it. I also need to get the proper spare for my LX-i; whether or not I'm supposedto be able to use the donut on the front, if I have 14" wheels I think I should have a 14" spare.
How much should I expect to pay for a 14" 4x100mm spare?
I'd suggest finding a used wheel and tire place if you have one near by or search ebay. I'm not sure and I know someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think you could fix a full size where the donut goes. It may be a better deal for you if you can find a cheap ass 14" 4x100 bolt pattern steel wheel
That would definitely be a solution. It'd be heavier, but it'd be something I could definitely use on every wheel.
go to the junkyard like i did and get a new donut off an integra or newer civic. they have larger diameter donut spares with 4x100mm lug pattern. if you look carefully in the trunks of these cars, you can find one that is unused and still new. i got mine for $20.
