    Exclamation PROJECT , TURBO ( Superman )

Hello all, as you can see I am new to this forum. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am in the process of building up the A20 motor in my 85 prelude and turbo charging it. I have done a lot of work with these engines before and have done a lot of trial and error. As I can see on here alot of you guys want the turbo charged accords for as little as possible and I am gonna do my best to have the info availiable for you. I am also doing some hybrid swaps onto an A20 project motor I have in my shop. Things like the b16 head onto the A20 block, different injectors, fuel rails, anything that can fit on this motor I will let you know. But if your intrested in the plans for the turbo or anything let me know. FYI- i can get used turbos from $50-75, guaranteed to work. if you need or want one lemme know, either on here or email me at [email protected]....

    i'll keep ya updated

we already have a few turbo a20's around the board. if you need parts and info, search around. You can start by looking at my signature for a list of parts avialable for turboing the a20.

    2 projects underway

On my last post i was starting to build a cost effective turbo setup, i know there is alot on here about the turbo's but i was just gonna see what i could do for as little as possible for everyone.

The other project I am working on is Supercharging the A20 motor. I have a vortech supercharger from my 5.0 mustang i crashed in my shop and I am gonna adapt it to our motor. The honda motor spins c.c.w. and the supercharger spins c.w. I found a way around that and if any one is intrested i will let ya know how it is coming. I am trying to fabricate the mounts as we speak. i will keep you updated.

the problem with superchargers is that honda motors tend to not perform as well with supers as they do with turbos. I've seen all kinds of super setups on hondas of all kinds and they just dont work well. The idea of a super is a good one (can you say no boost lag?) but hondas just dont like em. It'll be interesting to see one on a 3g though. I'd be curious to see how it performs.

    Good luck on your projects!

Yep I'll check on those donated trucks with Vortechs in them for you and me. I can't wait until you have the bugs figured out. Try and get a sound clip of the car running with the SC. I can't wait to hear it.

I was at the jegs store and they had a sc cutaway on display. I was thinking it could be adapted much more easily than a turbo.
I was thinking put it where the A/C goes.
Go for it. And keep us posted with updates and pictures.

I think one of the reasons that you don't see superchargers working well on Honda motors is all the setups I have seen use an Eaton style blower sitting where the intake goes. This creates a very short runner length and effectively kills low end torque (what little there is). The nice thing about a Centrifigal blower is you can retain the stock manifolds which should allow for better low end response. Of course, Turbos do this too.

One potential issue with the Vortech is just the size, both physcially and cfm. How much horsepower does it take to spin an S-Trim Vortech? I don't know, but a 5 liter V8 can tolerate the parasitic drag a lot better than our A20 would. I would assume that after the bracketry and belt drive is fabbed up, you would want to go with a more appropriately sized head unit. I have an S-Trim on a '90 Mustang and I can't imagine how the heck you would squeeze it in the Honda, but I have not actually tried.

Also, regarding the supercharger rotation, you can get them re-geared for reverse rotation. Maybe that's what you are doing but just wanted to throw it out.

You can get a B16 intake manifold to fit on the A20 head though.

when sean tried to mount the B16 head, he ran into cooling and oil problems. it is possible but you will have to do some major madifications to the block and the head.

he isnt running 10's....yet. his personal best is 11.1 and he broke an axel. if you ask me he'll break 10's next year with a fresh motor. he said that his current one is cracked in afew places and welded.....so i figure if he drops a newer a20 in there and bolts it back together he should break the barrarier and be the first 3g in the 10'ssssss!!!!

10's in a FWD car.........Still people fail to recognise to achieve that kind of 1/4 in a FWD car, requires more than just a killer engine........traction, torque steer become a problem.

That's where your suspension and wheels become a factor.
