Need help with what I assume is a break problem.

So I'm on my way to school and I accidently drive over this piece of garbage on the highway. I come back down from driving over it and my drivers side front wheel starts making this horrible squealing noise. I put the breaks on and it goes away. I hit another small bump and it comes back. I apply the the breaks and it goes away. After doing this for a couple time I couldn't get it to go away unless I had the breaks applied. So I turn around and go home. I took the wheel off and I think I found the culprit, there appears to be a dust cover behind it(?) and it looks all bent. I can't remember if it looked like that when I had the wheel off before. Would this cause that kind of problem? Pictures to follow:








My question is can I just bend this back until I can replace it? Can i just take it off? Would this be the cause of the problem?

Its just a shield, I say bend it back and see if the noise goes away.

either the dust shield is the culprit, or there is something in the calliper. I'd suspect that since the noise goes away when you apply the brakes, that there is something in the calliper.

I just bent the dust sheild back and took it for a quick test drive. That made absolutely no difference. What is my next step? I know nothing about breaks.

check to see if anything is in the calliper thats binding up in the pads. Honda disc brakes are SUPER simple. Just look all around and see if anything is caught up in there.

might also wanna try and turn the rotor to see if you can tell where it may be binding up, if that makes sense

I just turned the car on, put in drive and stepped on the gas. It kind seems random now as to when it goes away, but it always comes back as soon as I step on the gas. My next questoin is should I be able to see between my caliper and rotor? Should they be this close?

I got the bracket off that his holding the breakline, but I can't get the two bolts off of the caliper. I must be a freaking weakling or somthing. Dammit I need air tools.

Are you talking about the 2 17mm bolts that hold the mounting bracket? You don't need to pull those to remove the caliper. There is a 14mm bolt on the lower side of the caliper that you need to pull out. Then you should be able to rotate the caliper up and away from the rotor. (if the upper pin is not frozen)

Yeah, I ended up taking it to a garage and they told me that it looked like somthing was chewing at the breakpads. So I got to new pads and the breaking is better and no more noise. I prefer a shop do it anyway. I don't like messing with my breaks. I'd hate for them to not work when I need them.
