    Question new hood

i have an opp. to put a hood on from a lude. i will see if it fits in a few weeks when i have time. the only draw back is that i will have to paint it to match my car. (tan/gold) i don't want to be like everyone else around here and put a cf hood on so i thought i will make my car look like a lude from the front by putting on another hood. please help me decide if it will be worth my time.

I agree Kroy, as though we have room to talk.

More importantly is it worth your money? Will the hood just bolt on or will it require work to fit?

my guess is that its gonna take some work to get it to fit.. i would get the hood and the flip up lights because the accord lights look chubbier.

i should be able to test fir her tomorrow. if i have extra time at work. i don't have the lights just the hood. all that's left of the car is the hood, radiator, and engine that is SUPOSABLY able to push 350hp.

The hodd will probably bolt on, but the accord lights won't line up with the hood right, and the front fenders will be off as well. The prelude hood, lights and fenders look similar but they have more slope to them.

I'd say do a custom scoop for an intake, or get a scoop and do a turbo style hood, where the vent channels air down to where the header is...

I am gonna work on one of those kinda hoods that provides cooler air into the intake and exhaust manifold. Then again drive without a hood on looks cool too....

as long as it looks like it fits the car, then I'd say go for it. What Gen Lude hood are you looking to put on?

    Started with a 89 Accord LXI - 96 Acura TL - 2003 Acura CL Type S..

Wouldn't it just be easier & cheaper to modify your existing hood? Say like add a scoop? Maybe add some heat exchangers too? Louvers?

This has been asked many times before and the answer is always that the prelude hood is much too short for our accords. Unless you want to lengthen the hood I would just modify the existing. Or if you are afraid to screw up just buy a junkyard one and modify that one.

Both the 2g and 3g Preludes' hoods opened backwards from the Accords'. I know for a fact because just before I bought my 3g Accord, I looked at a 2g Prelude and it opened backwards, and also my parents owned an '88 Prelude and it opened backwards as well.

On the 2G accord the hood opened away from the windsheild.

i had a older prelude and i think it would line up b/c i had
a 89 accord dc strut bar on it and it worked it mite be just
a hair off but remember that the prelude hood open the
oppesite way and i think it would be a pain to get it to bolt
    properly

not all the prelude hoods open the opposite way, the 88-91 lude hoods open the same as ours, just don't know if it would line up

um, i dont thing any prelude hood will fit on any accords. if they do, i dont know about it. ive always thought about doing the 3rd gen prelude front and rear conversion to a 3gee to make it look like an accord from the cabin, but prelude distinctions in the trunk area and from clip area. i should draw something up. too much money would be involve in doing this the right way, but it would be very cool.
