    tranny

    i've got an 87 lxi w/ auto trans. some times when i put it into drive it engages really hard. other than that there is no sliping of the tranny or any other signs showing a bad tranny. any ideas?

    Change the fluid and filter. That is about all you can do without going to a shop.
