accord won't start

Again, constantly small problems coming up with my car, I'm not sure it might be the cold but it didn't do this last year.

My car is a 1989 Honda accord lx, automatic, carb, with 166,600 miles on it.

Recently the car will start most the time but from time to time it won't start unless I push the pedal all the way to the floor I'm told that this flushes out all the fuel in the carborator. The first few times it happened I didn't know what to do so I was left stranded. It seemed like it had started out doing it only when I parked on hills but now it does it even if I am on level ground. It doesn't matter if my car is cold or hot that I am aware of however it does seem like everytime it has happened my car is still warm.

sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

I agree. Fix that then check the howto section and retune the carb. It is a good thing to do a couple of times a year. Especially between summer and winter. If you have no emissions checks I HIGHLY recommend removing the vacuum lines, it makes the car more tolerable.

Hmm a vacuum leak, they don't have emissions tests in montana by the way that I am aware of. There are so many vacuum lines, last time I looked for a vacuum leak I couldn't find one, even though I sprayed the lines with carb cleaner.

Can you rip em out on any vehicle i heard it was only on sticks? Autos can too?

So far it will only not start when the engine is still warm, I know there is something specific that causes this. Hmm if I remove the vacuum lines won't I lose my cruise control????

I think someone kept cruize controll... You need to supply vacuum to the vacuum canister, and to the valve on the cruise control diaphragm. I forget.

your gas mileage may go up or down depends on your driving

I got the same carb flooding every time i tried to plug that vapor vent line which goes from float bowl to charcoal can.

Front side of carb: G - float bowl vent tube
Left side of carb: B - float bowl vent valve diaphragm vacuum port. (vacuum line #8)
With engine at idle, should be vacuum at #8.

Actually with engine warm and off, u should check for passage on "G - float bowl vent tube" both ways to carb and to charcoal can.
Check also gas level in float bowl window!
