A while back my car started making a very loud rubbing noise whenever I would take off from a stop, and sometimes during hard braking. It wasn't very constant, but annoying none the less.
Well, over time it has become more constant, to the point where I can predict when it will happen. It sounds like a tire rubbing the fender, but I know it is not that, that's just kinda what it sounds like. I can feel vibrations in the floor board and in the pedals when it happens. It is very loud, and happens when I take off, come to a stop, when I am accelerating uphill, or when coasting in gear. If I push the clutch in and/or put it in neutral it will stop. It doesn't do it for long periods of time, usually for 2-3 seconds or less. I have been told that it is the Control Arm Bushing.
Does this sound right. What is the control arm, and how do I replace the bushing? I was told that the bushing is just dreid out, but it will not hurt anything if left the way it is, it will just be annoying. Well it is extremely annoying, and it is driving me nuts. Does anyone have any ideas of the cause and how to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance for any and all info.
