    Couple things...

Cut my A/C belt the other day, because I figured that with or without the AC clutch engaged, the engine is STILL gonna spin it's pulley... now that I've done it, I've noticed that when going up hills, the engine is much more willing to rev higher in D3. Like, before it topped out at 5k going up a certain hill, now it's at 5250-5500.

    secondly....

I'm getting a total exhaust overhaul tomorrow, and my parent's are covering it as a birthday gift!!!

So now, the pacesetters that I have are gonna be chopped right above the flange off the header to the downpipe, they're gonna install a 2-1 collector and flexpipe, with 2.25" mandrel-bent stainless to, and after, the cat... to a new stainless muffler. (haven't decided on the muffler yet)

BTW, pacesetters are camel dung. the flanges are horrible, the faux flex (spring bolts) will do more harm than good, the welding is amateurish if not sloppy, and they rattle like a sunuvagun. get DC if you're able.

It's looking like a $500US job, but what do I care? It's free for me!!

    WOO HOO

    --------

Now I have to know what everyone's favorite muffler is... I keep hearing good things about dynomax... but basically, I want something that's pretty high-flo, low note (not lawnmower-ish), and low profile (not coffee can/howitzer shell).

    advice?

well I just recently had about the same thing done, I went with a magnaflow race series mirror finish muffler. I have been very happy with it, it came with a very nice torque and HP increase. The sound is nice and low, since they removed the resonator it's pretty loud but now my car sounds like a performance machine If you go to http://carreview.com they have reviews of different mufflers, this may help you with your decision. Peace.

The dynomax super turbo, the flowmaster 50 series and the magna flow should all flow very well and all 3 have a nice low note to them. I'm going to try and make a mpg clip of how my car sounds so anyone that want's to hear how a dynomax sounds can hear one.
H&R springs revalved Bilstein front struts, koni struts in the rear 195/55-15 Dunlop W-10's Dc Sports header custom cat-back with Dynomax super turbo w/3" Brembo slotted & dimpled rotor's EBC pads

Thanks for the input, I'm feeling like Dynomax Super Turbo is what I'm gonna have installed tomorrow morning.

Speaking of Pacesetter headers, I too stopped that annoying rattle when I installed a flex pipe. The shop that I had it done at did a really nice job welding in one.

Ah, yes flowmasters do produce such a wonderful note.

well, i crushed under peer pressure and got the dynomax super turbo with a magnaflow tip... the flexpipe (killed the rattle THANK GOD)... and mandrel bent 2.25 cat-back.

everything else is the same, the flange on the pacesetters from the 4-2 to the 2-1 wasn't bad, it was just a blown gasket, so that was fixed. the flexpipe was installed where the faux-flex was on the pacesetters.

i'm thinking about pulling out my cat and drilling a quarter inch hole in the middle of the element from front to back... but i'm not sure i wanna do it.

the exhaust has a really low note.. loudest at 3k, quiet at 1k and 5k.

    i'm happy!
