89 LXi for parts (Central NY)

Well, I blew a head gasket on my 89 LXi, and it's time to say goodbye. I definitely don't have the knowledge to do it myself, and I've been quoted anywhere from $650 to $900 by 4 different places. The car itself was running wonderfully before the gasket blew. The body is in rough shape, but not too much rust. As far as I know, the rest of the engine is in pretty good shape. It has 213,000-something miles on it, and I'm only the 2nd owner.

The transmission to my knowledge is in great condition, and I've never had any problems with it whatsoever. I also just put 2 brand new front tires on the car, but the back ones are pretty worn. Passed NYS inspection about a month and a half ago, and as of now it still has plates, I just wouldn't drive it anywhere. It drives, I guess, but not well (as you'd imagine). I was able to drive it about 15 miles home yesterday, but it wasn't pleasant. If you want to come here and pick it up, I'm asking for $300 obo. I'll work to ship it to someone, but I doubt that's going to be a reasonable option in this case.

Well, just let me know when you get it all figured out... I'm looking at getting a 93 Accord SE coupe, and I need all the money I can get for the down payment.

Those SE's are tight, kid. If you don't sell your coupe to dude, you gonna part it out or try to sell it whole??

I called my grandpa tonight and he wasn't home so I should here back from him tomorrow. I'd like to keep the tires so I can move it around if I need to. You could sell what's on the car if you want and just snag some steelies from the junkyard.

Everything looks to be a go for getting the car. I'm not sure when I'll be able to pick it up yet. My grandpa is going into the hospital tomorrow so it could be this weekend or next. Will you take $250 for it?

How about $275? I'm basically selling off everything I own to get a down payment for this 93 Accord SE I found, and I borrowed exactly $275 from my brother for it. I probably won't be around at all next weekend because of Black Friday and working retail, heh...but I'm sure someone will be. Either way, if you let me know when you'll be there, I can take my lunch break from work then or something. This weekend I'll probably be around quite a bit on Saturday and a little on Sunday.

I'll PM you with my contact info.

Edit : Also, just curious - what are your plans? I noticed you have a DX... fix the gasket and do a swap? That's my first guess, heh.

I thought Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. If that's true, Black Friday is the 29th. 3 weekends from now. I'm trying to go for this weekend but like I said I can't guarantee it. 275 sounds good to me.

I don't want to post my plans in a public forum. I think there's only 2 people on the board that know because I needed info. They're helping a lot. I wanna get everything done before I show it that way I actually have what I say. It's not going to be I'm getting this and that and never follow through.
