okay i was'nt able to get a '90 2.5 pipe.
but i got a straight pipe and a fle pipe.
whould that help?
plus i got some hi-heat. dupli color paint 1200*.
it's kinda gettin cold so i don't think just sitting out side would help it dry faster or make the paint work the way it should.
so here's a noob question. since in chicago, we have gas stove would this be safe?
or is it fine sitting in the garage?

I would let the peice sit for a couple of days on top of a tv or something inside the house. That way it will stay above freezing while drying

Well the gas stove might be ok after the paint has fully dried. I put mine inside a wood stove on top of a grill.

just spray outside and bring it inside to dry.
DO NOT USE GAS STOVE. it may explode even after dry.
i have electric stove and i just baked my headers in it.

okay so i could sit it inside the basment since the haet come's on too.

oh would it be okay if i did my exhaust manafold , would i noticw a difference?

Have it inside for a while so the metal is nice and warm and then bring it outside to spray it really quick. You have to have the metal warm so that the metal will stick. Then bring it back inside so it doesn't crack from the cold weather.

Yea that is what I pretty much did with my CAI and headers. The gas stove is not going to blow up from the paint. The gas stove would be just as safe as a BBQ grill, a metal barrel, or a wood stove. They all have flames.(heat) Also what about a oven, its runs on gas too.

i've already did it.
it came out pretty good.
i had gotten a blue.
i sprayed the inside and out the next day, the coat is pretty thick so.
plus the pipe is cooler than the room temp.
so i'm assuming that the stuff is doing it's job.

Well it sounds like you are pretty happy. What kind of filter do you have. I recomend K&N.

well i'll get a k&n, Right now i have a custom made air filter and trust me it work's good. and the carb is'nt dirty.

Sorry for bringing up an old post, but I just looked at some of that Dupli-color paint at wal-mart (thanks to the idea from: http://tinyurl.com/2kqym). They've got two types of ceramic paint: 500 and 1200 degree ones. The 500 degree one has simpler application directions and is intended for intakes and engine and such applications.

The 1200 degree paint is intended for exhaust, cooling system and manifold applications. It is harder to work with: you're supposed to bring it up to 300+ degree heat to help cure it and such.

I didn't know which one to pick for my new intake, but you guys seem to have been able to paint an intake with the 1200 degree paint and bake it. Should I do the same or should I stick the the 500 bottle? If I bake the 1200 degree paint will it do a better job for the intake? And does the higher temp paint create a thicker coating?

well i think mine's said to have it for 300 also, but i sat it in the garage in a windy area (and it was windy that day) coated plenty too, and it dried off.
hell get both do your intake and exhaust.

What will painting the stock exhaust do except prevent futher rusting? If I bake the intake in my kitchen oven, will it render the oven useless with all the emitted vapors?

Im not sure just leaving it out in the wind will cure it the way the paint is designed to set. Maybe I should put 1200 on the outside of intake and 500 inside?

I'd appreciate any other input anyone has on this.

Well if you don't cure it properly it will bubble and eventually come off.

Yeah, that's what I feared. So is this 1200F paint worth it for an intake or will the 500 paint do just as good of job?

the intake won't get hot enought for it to bubble, if you didn't do it right on your header then it would buble after awhile.
