    thats what i was thinking man. I compare it to a water hose. Sure it will allow more water to flow, but if the source is the same, the only thing that will happen is a drop in pressure.

    I don't understand why power is an issue here.

    1. You're getting a $150 set of wires for $35 shipped.
    2. Less resistance, MUUUUUCH less resistance. They run like 400ohm and I don't what ours run stock but I know it's in the thousands. This alone breeds more power. No, it's not going to shave a whole second off your 1/4 time but there's some power to be gained and it's multiplied with an msd style setup.
    3. Better spark, maybe not stronger, but a better consistent spark. Like vinny said a smoother idle is very possible b/c of a more consist quality spark. Especially you guys w/ big systems in your cars. Radio waves affect the spark of your engine. These wires can help prevent that.

    I could go on but I'm not tryin' to flame. Just trying to relay the notion that power gain should not be the deciding factor in getting these wires. Plus, they look tight as hell. I'm on my 2nd set of them and I've ordered 2 more. I bought some cheapy bocsh in between installing my 2nd set and you can definatly tell a difference.

    ok since 2 of you know all of this and 1 of the 2 wants to compare it to a waterhose let me explain it this way

    Voltage loss in a wire is similar to pressure loss in a pipe. Electric current flows in a wire, just like water in a pipe, and creates a loss. The loss is a function of:

    The diameter of the wire - The smaller the diameter, the larger the loss.
    The length of the wire - The longer the wire, the larger the loss.
    The type of metal used in the wire - The higher the resistance, the larger the loss. Copper and Aluminum wires are the most common types, with copper having the lower resistance.
    Voltage Loss is calculated using "OHM’S LAW", as follows:

    E = IR

    Where: E is the Voltage Loss, in volts
    I is the current flowing through the wire, in amperes
    R is the resistance of the wire, in ohms

    Now I'll let the 2 of you figure out using the basic electrical formula I just pulled out of my ass and use the crane wires resistance stated as 400 Ohms as opposed to the data from Pauls Manual which states wires with under 25000 Ohms are considered good.

    Now you 2 tell me if there is going to be a difference between wires rated at 400 Ohms resistance and cheaper wires with more resistance even if the difference will be only as minmal as a smoother idle, better throttle response, or even a slight bit of improved fuel economy. Not to mention the fact that as mentioned before that you are getting a flat out better quality of wires for the same price as a cheaper set

    hee hee thats first semester college all over again

    Im not saying these wires are bad, it will be better no doubt about it, i was just saying I couldn't really expect a big ole power increase unless the ignition is upgraded etc..etc..

    P=I*V
    E=I*R

    ...ahh flash back from electro-engineering
    lol

    well my bad if I misread what you stated early, especially when you quoted someone who said "yeap, they won't do crap if you have stock ignition. they may look cool, but they won't add anything to the power." so in part yes they won't effect power in a huge sense but I wouldn't agree with the "they won't do crap part" and then to follow that up by saying unless the source is changed the output will be reduced. Which you proved you know better :lol Good game Paul, a lil mind stimulation id good everyday

    :smokin: the "dont do crap part" i dont agree with. Just a question vin' , whats your electrical background? Myself I took a common first year with the robotics guys (im in programmer/analyst) we did everything from simple digital circuits to 3-phase 1/4hp electric motor experiments, it was bitchin.

    I was an Avionics Technician in the USAF for 9 years, went through all their schooling plus took some classes here and there. Licensed Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic for the last 5 years. Have my FCC license, almost finished my engineering degree in Oklahoma before I moved to GA. I've been an avionics tech rep for the military for the last year. Electrical theory is kind of my bread and butter now that I fly a desk

    I'm supposed to get my wires today!!!!!!! I'm so excited I'm going to change the plugs as well. Does anyone know if the Accel HEI universal coil will work on our cars? I thought A20A1 had one.

    I bought an extra yellow and blue set. I'm going to get that universal Accel HEI coil from summit b/c I have a $15 gift cert. from them from buying so much stuff from them.

    On the install of that coil do I have to do anything different from installing a regular universal Accel coil? B/c I have that already. Did you notice anything when you switched starter? Like gas mileage and stuff like that?

    alright I suppose there isn't much of a voltage difference.

    Alright i got mine about a week ago. I havent put them on yet because i am planning on getting a msd blaster 2 coil real soon, and was just going to put them on then. I have a question i have held them up to wheir their suppse to go and it seems like they will just bearly fit, with like no slack at all. Is that the same with you guys? Thanks

    BTW: when i get the new coil should i make my spark plug gap sommething like .050

    Well I have been told to gap mine to .050" with my Accel Coil so I think that you would be fine to gap them at the same.

    I will check mine wire length out too.
