    What does this mean?

I got a stock radio for my 89. It has buttons for the cassettes, theres the dolby digital one, I know what that is.

But what does Metal and TDS (or something like that) do?

In the eighties some tapes were metal and say "chrome" on them. I guess they got sick of the plastic, but for us it translates to a button that is useless.

I believe it is a form of noise reduction or tape hiss, for different types of tapes.
