More on the aftermarket air flowww

Ok, I just picked up my new 89 LX-i and noticed the really complex intake on it... My question is would a short ram really improve things? Honda designers have a job for a reason, they know what the hell they're doing, would simply putting an aftermarket intake on increase things? Let me know opinions, facts, technical data....
    Thanks guys!

Stock intakes where made for fuel economy and noise restriction...if you think thats cool...go ahead and keep the stock intake...if you want your car to be alittle louder and have a little bit more power go for an aftermarket intake

A Short ram intake is louder than the CAI cause of the filter placement. When u eliminate all the ruffles in the pipe and all the crazy bends and the flow lenght of the actual intake pipe and increase its diameter, its basic physics that ur getting more power. Better yet, have the intake be wider on the filter side and a lil narrower on the TB side, you got urself a lil Forced induction of the intake acting as a Venturi, which under fluid dynamics, the exit velocity (At the TB side) should be faster.

The forum says its a 3g accord forum, but it never says anything about people who dont own one cant join it, does it? If he has a piece of advise and a tech know how, he is more than welcome to stay. Better yet, he serves us a knowledge of other cars and how we could use their technology or whatever to use it for our advantage. BUt if he is gonna be here trashing our accord, then its a whole different story. But he aint doin it is he?? So why bother?

I liked how mine turned out. I feel the difference from my regular short air intake. I think its just as good as the CAI I had on before winter came.

I've got a short ram intake... definite increase in power over stock, and I even noticed a bit of an increase over the CAI I used to have... there's a picture below
    87 hatch (stolen)

88 lxi 4dr, 5spd, threw a rod... in process of swapping engine from my 87 hatch (police recovered what was left of the car).

You both feel the difference is due to resonance. Longer the pipe, greater the resonance. Thats why people go with short ram intake, its not only aggressive sounding, it also easy to do. But a good CAI would give you more hp than a short ram. This is true by physics.

I had a setup like what Modu03 has pictured. IMO it was not as good as the CAI I had, only louder. The current setup I have is like the V2 intakes by AEM. (the filter is next to the battery) This is the one that I am comparing to the CAI.
