what is the point of getting a short arm when the ecu tell the car how much air to put in. i heard that the car goes back to normal after you put a intake on it. the ecu can not control air temp.
correct me if i am wrong.

The car can not contol the amount of incomming air but your foot can!

The colder the air the better, its said for every 10 degrees drop in tempature of the intake air there is a 1% gain in HP.
The purpose of a Cold Air Intake (CAI) is to get the intake in a place where it takes in cold air and not the hot air that is trapped under the hood, many times CAIs take in air from areas inside of the wheel well ahead of the front tires. Another thing that sometimes makes CAIs superior to the short ram style intake is that the longer tube of the CAI increase the velocity of the air...and this is where it kinda gets hard to explain for me where someone would understand it lol
A short ram intake...or an intake that has the filter inside the engine comparment and takes in the hot air there is generally not the best for performance. Many times short ram intakes for cars are made in too large of a diameter of piping which hurts air velocity.
It all kinda depends on your motor you have and the setup and what you want out of the car on what kinda of intake you should use, but anytime your looking for more power, cooler air is always better

More air or cold air ?? ...Why not go for both ? but for now I would just consentrate on getting in more air...and when you truly get hardcore about it..start looking for cooler air

short ram: good for highend power and top speed
Cold Air Intake: good for low end and torque
so both have their own functions...just depends what your lookin for
if you want more power in the low range, such as off the line and acceleration, go for cold-air.
if you want more high-end power and top speed, go for short-ram
