    This may be a dumb question, but what does a turbo actually do

    besides the obvious... make it faster, but how??? What does it do to make the car faster??

    uses exhaust gases to spin the turbine to compress air in the other turbine that leads to the intake...

    Compressed air, along with a hotter spark and more air, adds to the compression of the engine. More fuel with more compression = more power.
