    EFI fast idle

    ok,
My car fast idle at 2000 rpm all the time for at least 10 minutes.
i know the fast idle should be at 1400rpm. I tried adjusting the fast idle and it all the way in. it droped from 2500 to 2000 but that is not low enough.
Is my fast idle valve dead?

what is everyones fast idle set at? and how long does it idle before it kicks down?
    thanks guys.
    Alex.

Does it idle high all the time or just when it's warming up?

Have you cleaned our your throttle body? It might be best to clean out your throttle body, especially where the idle adjustment screw sits. Then check it out. By "adjusting the fast idle valve did you mean you screwed that slotted part on the top (after you remove the cover) all the way in?

Another thing...you might want to try to clean out the valve and get new o-rings for it. If the o-rings are flattened, that could allow an air leak and drive up your idle. I'd buy 2 or 3 set of o-rings for that valve and if cleaning the valve, TB and re-adjusting the idle screw doesn't work, try to get one from a boneyard, use another set of o-rings and try that.

Alex, does it do that during summer too? or just for the winter? MY car idles normally at 1.5K on fast idle but sometimes shoots at 2K for like half a minute to warm up the engine faster, Usually the rubbers wear out on the valve and like Dibbs mentioned it just wont work no matter how much u screw it in cause the air starts to leak out,

I stole couple of em from the junkyard and one of em was pretty new and it works fine now.

Check the O ring around the idle adjust screw it may be dried out and letting air leak in . my Accord did the same thing and that what it was.
    LX-R coming soon Here's a hint. 89mm stroke/ 41.60cc head /ARP head & main stud's /SRP piston's 81.5mm 9:5:1/Crower Rod's & more to come

there is no Leak on the PCV valve right? its most likely the idle controller. Is the coolent going to the valve hot when it reaches normal operating temperature? Is the thermostat okay?
