to paint or not to paint?

I know some of you guys got the side mouldings painted as well as the "black" bumpers and all that, how well does the paint hold up? I can't decide whether or not to have mine painted when they do the car. :-P

you just gotta make sure the paint is thin and flexible enough. i repainted my moldings black last summer and it still looks brand new (the moldings, not the car hehe).

As long as the shop preps it right and uses the proper flex agent in the paint, it will not flake off unless rocks or something hit it.

Schweet Nate! My bumpers are fading, and I want that slick mirror black finish on them. Looks nice!

ohh! very nice! thanks for the picture of the tools too! i wonder if i should get a new bumper for it. I think i remember there was a gouge or scratch on one of the corners. :/ i dunno if it would sand off.

BONDO...Yeah for bondo. Use it, it may be alittle more difficult, but a lot cheaper than buying a whole bumper...BONDO, yeah for bondo!!!

Here's an Accident story that deserves to go down in the record books for all time greatest bumpers.

I was driving in the 2nd lane from the right of a 4 lane street, them some guy in a 94 Ford Probe slides accross 2 lanes and slams into my front bumper (black) we get out, he admits that it's his fault etc..... there's a scratch on my driver's side bumper about 6 inches long, not too deep (or so it seems) there is no other damage whatsoever, and the best part about it is there's a dent the size of his entire door panel on his car!!!! He gave me 50 bucks and told me to forget it! 3 CHEERS FOR HONDA!!!!!! :p

Now all there is to do is re-paint the bumper using the oh so conveniently placed products above

chck behind the bumper before you start doing anytihng...

my uncle had an old civic, and his wife's sun wrecked it... looked like nothing had happened to it other than the bumper bein messed up... but my uncle pulled the bumper off, and the car was a hell of a lot worse than it looked from the surface(ie: bent frame)

Thats the problem w/a unibody car the force of the impact is asorbed through the car, so even if it looks alright on the out side, check behind it to make sure...DON't FORGET THE BONDO...
