    Attn: Cost Of Gsr Swap

for everyone who is skeptical about this swap.. and how much EXACTLY it'll cost. and the amount of hassle putting it in the easiest way and saving urself money!

ATLEAST! 3000 dollars jus for the complete motor! but here is the hassle. u want it the easiest way for it to drop in with the least amount of hassle.. becuz our cars r obd-0, the motor has to be converted to obd0! if not, for the carb guys.. to be honest., ur shit! ur gonna have to take a step back and do an FI conversion. wat do u need for
    obd-0?

lots of b16 parts. the most expensive part would be the intake manifold from skunk2, the hardest one to find depending on ur location, would be the first gen b16 distributor, then the ecu, first gen b16 throttle body, injectors, and first gen b16 cable tranny. unless u want a long reving ls tranny, then that is an option also.

that's jus an easier route to go. now for the LEGIT GSR swap.. jus pay the DAMN money and convert everything to OBD1! that means, switching ur ecu harness pins to the proper first gen b16 set up., then pigtail ur ecu harness to obd1! convert to HYDRO tranny which can be easily done IF u have or know the right resources. if not, stay cable tranny. that means u can use the dual stage intake manifold., gain ur mid range power.. and be satisfied in the end.

BUT! it'll be very costly.. and on the other hand, VERY EFFECTIVE.

THESE R UR ONLY TWO CHOICES TO HAVE A RELIABLE GSR SWAP IN UR CAR.

i cannot give an exact quote on how much it'll cost exactly becuz of everyone's location. if ur by where i am at., i can definately hook u up with the necessary parts. otherwise, ur stuck online. either way, ur going to spend a total.. 5000 at the most for a GSR swap depending on ur suppliers and installers. that is u have someone who is willing to sell u the motor for cheap., like how i got my motor for 2400 complete. then that's a different story. and i doubt a shop will install the motor for 300 dollars.. atleast 600 dollars for the install. but 5000 at the most is wat ur looking at. and that's honest!

am i satisfied with my swap?? 8000 dollars...??? i couldve gotten a prelude vtec.. but tonight.. i jus whooped an AUDI S4 (v6tt awd)
and the guy didnt even know wat my car was! he jus gave me a thumbs up and took the lost.. was i satisfied?? hell yea, ive achieved my goal of sleeper with an unknown car that ive been dedicated with for 5 years now.

    now i ask.. r u willing to be a dedicated 3geez??

Exactly. I am glad you are giving people the real deal with the swap. Some people just dont understand what is involved, even after there are a DOZEN similar threads. Like I have said before....the amount of money I am spending on my Ls/Vtec engine, I could have probably bought a decent b18c1. But, I am sticking with it and I am going to see what I can get out of it. At least if I am not happy with it I will have all the PRI stuff to throw a different B-series engine in.

nooo.. i spent about 8500 for my swap. that includes EVERYTHING. all the skunk 2 components, all the aftermarket goodies, all the rebuilding (hoses, gaskets, and seals), all the necessary parts to drop the motor in, and the complete motor itself. and not to mention, the labor. almost everything in my motor is new. either oem honda, or aftermarket. my block is stock, the only upgrade were usdm typeR pistons. otherwise, everything else on the block is stock and cleaned out. no actual big milling was done to the head or was it ported and polished. the head was micro milled, sand blasted and hot tanked. no port and polish.

and u might now say.. FOR OBD0?? well.. when u jus spent 4000 dollars in one day.. thinking about obd1 isnt in ur head. i jus spent 4000 dollars in one day, i want that sucker in as easiest as possible and as fast as possible.

for jus a stock one.. i suggest u have atleast 5000 ready for a legit STOCK GSR swap. that means keeping it obd1 or converting the motor. JUS the motor to obd1. some of u may not get an obd1 gsr motor and wind up with an obd2 and have to do an obd1 conversion on the motor and do an obd1 conversion on ur ecu. that's the hardest part. like i said, depending on ur supplier the complete motor can cost anywhere from 2500 to 3500. everything else, such as all the parts from place racing will total no more than 1500 dollars. then u gotta pay for the labor.. which will cost u atleast 600 dollars depending on the installer. luckily a friend an i dropped the motor which saved me a shit load of money. then i paid an extra 100 to get the ecu pins switched around. so i paid 300 for my install.

i hope everyone will understand that this is a very expensive and a lot of hassle swap due to obd. get ur budget down, and know wat ur getting into before u screw urself up. im not saying no one can do this, im jus trying to help. this is y the b16 would be an easier choice.. something oldschool has said before. and it is VERY true. unless ur like me, who dont give a shit. and jus spend the money where u want it. then go for it, ill encourage u further.

Yeah this is definatly good stuff and Juan found out first hand on wiring errors in the Place Racing information as i saw when Steve (88Lxi68) worked on the wiring in his car. Place Racing should put out some updated information on the wiring and pinouts because it would be a breeze with the proper wiring infomation. We had the factory wiring diagram, Juans info, and some PRI info and going back and forth was time consuming but came out fine in the end.

that was well said...i'm with ya

well, i was originally gonna go with a b18c1, but now realized that a b18 is gonna be alot of work and $$.. I am now strongly concidering a B20, fully building it and possibly turbo..
b20's can be found for cheap, and not many other parts are needed to do this swap, since our cars had this motor in the JDM and european cars..
so i'm leaning more towards a b20 now...
    although, i was really wanting a b18 with v-tec..mmmmmmmmm

Get a B20 and find a VTEC head that can be made to fit it would be one bad ass set up, then a turbo.

yup.. thats what my buddy and I were also trying to put together..
only problem with that.. sure it will make lots of power and will be a crazy monster.. but it's reliability won't be too great..
like seals may not all hold up such and head gasket and the such.. the motor will always constantly need tuning and fixing..but yes it can be done

what are the 1st gen gsr motors, are they obd-0 or 1? although they are a little bit harder to find. but my company sells engines, they are shipped over straight from japan. i can get pretty much any jdm engine.
my price for a 1st gen b16 is 1900+shipping. and that comes with pretty much everything under the hood, like wiring harness, ecu, complete engine, tranny, axles, and sometimes even suspension and brakes. and that also comes with the jdm crx cluster.

but the dc2 gsr clip from me is 3280+shipping, that also includes what i listed with the b16

got questions feel free to email me

i know, i was saying, wouldnt it be better to use a 1st gen gsr, since they are cable and matching obd right? of course they're only 1.7 but 170hp isnt that bad. the thing is, you have to find one, cause they are pretty rare.

    PRE-OBD
    Cable Tranny
    160hp 117ft. lbs
The tranny is golden. It has the closest gear ratio to the ITR-Tranny.
