Carbon Fiber Hoods Group Buy #2 - $480 Shipped!

I contacted the shop owner about the terms of a second group buy on carbon fiber hoods, since there has been so much interest now that the pics are out. Here are the terms:

    1. The hoods are $480 shipped to the continental US this time around. For the first buy they were $435, but he told us they would be more expensive after the initial order. $480 is still a great price for a hood shipped to your door! Shipping is usually $100 on CF hoods and the hood itself can cost up to $500.

    2. We must have a minumum order of 10. Once we have 10, everyone will send the $480 to me through PayPal or through a money order. Once our order is placed, the hoods will be manufactured. Each hood takes 3 days to make. The hoods will ship out in the order that members joined the group buy.

    3. The hoods are stock-style ONLY. No scoops or vents. Please don't ask if a hood can be customized for you. There are holes for the front grill piece to attach to the hood, just like your stock hood.

    4. Don't join the group buy unless you're sure you can come through with the $. If you join and then back out later, it could jeopardize the group buy for everyone.

The hoods can be shipped outside the continental US, but there is an extra shipping charge. For example, during the last buy, someone from Hawaii bought a hood and the extra shipping was $80.

These are quality, real carbon fiber hoods. They are triple-coated with UV protection and have a very glossy finish.

No one else makes a carbon fiber hood for your 86-89 Accord. This is a great deal. 88LXi68 has received his hood from the first group buy. Read about it here:
    https://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8813

Benefits of getting a carbon fiber hood:
-It weighs about half as much as your stock hood.
-It releases heat better than your stock hood.
-A lot of people think the carbon fiber look is tight. You can also paint the hoods, if you want that stock look.

Please read through these threads. They will answer many of your questions.

The money is due by Friday, December 6th. That gives you 25 days to get the $ together. That should give us plenty of time to get 10 people in on the group buy!

-You can paint them just like an OEM hood. A lot of guys with show cars do this.

    Coroncho80 wrote: "what to do?"
    -LOL - ummm . . . get one? I don't think you'll be disappointed if you do. Your call, though : )

buish wrote: "does this group buy include the hood pins like 88lxi68 got for his? do we need to drill our own holes for the hood pins also?"
-Yep, hood pins come with it, just like 88lxi68. Yes, you will have to install the hood pins yourself and that includes drilling the holes yourself. I posted a site with a good "how-to" here:

Why do you need the hood pins? are our latches prone to letting go at freeway speeds and above? if so I am playing with death on a daily basis.

Dude...it's real, and it looks damn good probably.

I'm gonna want one, I'm gonna have to bang out my finances first.

It's on my "to get" list.

-Well, I guess you don't. I read that if you take your car into the very high MPH range (130 +) that your hood can fly off. I kinda doubt that would be a problem for any of us though. The hood pins are mostly for look, I believe - unless you're very serious about drag racing your car.

-Sorry, my bad. You were the first to join the buy. He did so through a PM.

syn4la5 wrote: "can i see it on a 3gee before i commite to anything"
-If someone who bought one through the first group buy gets it installed and posts pics before December 6, then yes you can see it before you commit. I'm sure someone will put theirs on before then!

zip7 wrote: "can anyone with the cf hood post a picture of the underside of the hood"
-I don't have a pic of the underside, but I know that the frame is fiberglass and that it matches the stock frame.

NOAHS88accord, I've emailed the shop owner and I'm waiting for him to get back to me.

I'm hoping someone from the first buy will have their hood installed soon so we can all see pics!

C'mon everyone! We need some more people to join the buy!
