I think you should have painted the whole car, and gotten rid of those ugly ass tail lights.

I know you did not just say that. for your sake I hope so. I have been gonna let that slide for now. I am NOT painting the bumpers. Everbody paints the bumpers and moldings to make the car looke like something its not. Im sticking with stock until I see the new bumpers on the car and decide otherwise.

well mine was actually a custom mix, we just used the gun metal as a starting point. As far as coverage goes, if you are doing the jams, under the hood, under the trunk, and bother bumpers it takes two coats reduced 1 to 1. since I didnt do the bumpers I just threw down 3 coats and when it dried it gave it a real nice and dark color. if your using Dupont make sure you use the VS6. i wanted to go darker and use VS7 but i didnt have any.

ok, but what amount did you use, just one gallon of it? is it acrylic enamel, basecoat/clear, or what? mine is acrylic enamel, and i got it for free as well, if yours was acrylic enamel, what all did you use to mix it??
    thanks a lot

I didn't mean to offend you. Here in Idaho, your car looks like the back of a horse trailer. That's the first thing that came to mind when I saw the back of your car. That's why I don't like them. I want your front lip though, that's tight, the color of paint makes your car look like a million bucks, a big props for doing it yourself. I can't wait to see it in person.

Yeah, I LOOOOOVE marios's tails . But you know, everything above DX had painted bumpers, so I think it would look fine there mario! Also, those tail lights aren't stock, that is kind of like making the car something it's not (a corvette maybe? ) Yeah, I would paint the bumpers, it would look so much better there homestar!

if anything it looks more like a school bus. Horse trailors dont use LED brake lights. except the real new ones. i get what your saying, you just have to see it in person. the pictures dont do justice.

this is very true. that was a bad example. your just missing the simple concept though. its about being original. lots of people tint their tail lights red or black. why not change them completely (to corvette style). lots of cars shave emblems and marking; why not move them around......and Everybody likes to paint there bumpers and moldings.....you get where im going. my bumpers were matched with the car too and its just more paint that got chipped up and ugly. like i said, i'll decide when I GET the bumpers.

what this is all about is going from concept:

a picture I photo shopped 10 months ago

    to reality:

just pretend the bumper is there still.

might as well though this one in there too for the rest of you.

what the HELL?? how the FUCK did you get your car to some place sunny? I thought you guys were getting snow just like us?!?

guess i shoulda read the previous posts. ...I didnt think mario was that close to getting his car done.....hey mario, did you shave the back end on your car? I like that idea of shaving the tails like that.

KEEP THE BUMPERS BLACK. Mario, i like where you're going with this. It'll be about show quality if you keep going with it in the direction you are. If you turboed that baby, that would be THE sickest 3G around.

what new picture. those other two pictures were both photo shopped 10 months ago. I was just showing how close I came to replicating my concept.

Yeah I was up till 3 on friday morning painting it, and then took a nap got up ran around town for a bit picking up odds and ends. then I pulled the tranny out of my brothers car and then got back at mine at 9:30pm putting it back together and gotdone with everything around 10 am sunday morning. went home took a shower and got back on my brothers transmission.

I did not get to shave the back end though. since I cant weld and I cant get any body to do it for me (Andrew) I had to settle for leaving the tail lights where they were. I still dont have bumpers yet, and I got pulled over last night already. but i talked him out of a ticket.

man, if you coulda got ahold of a welder, i woulda (somehow) done it for ya. Im fairly handy with the welder (good enough for body work). but even w/out the shaving, it still looks good. I dont know if i said this earlier but, im not a big fan of those tails, but the rest of your car is badass so i'll forgive ya..... j/k
