I need an opinion

I have an 88 accord and one day I drove it home from work and it was running ok. The next time I tried to start it up it started high idling at around 4,000 rpms and when it was done high idling if I didn't keep the gas pushed down it would die. I don't have a clue as to what the problem is. does anyone have any ideas?

I'm no mechanic but I had a similar symptom with my 88 Accord LX about 6 months ago. I let it run like this for about two weeks (the exact same way yours is running) before I finally brought it into my mechanic. Turns out it was a little plastic chunk from my air filter that got stuck between the butterfly valve (or whatever it is) and the carburator body. It held the valve open and pulled in air, leading to quite a high idle while parked or driving. Go to a mechanic and have them check out the carb, there may be something stuck somewhere in it.

sounds like a carb problem....check your fuel filters....
