It is a lot of trouble. The trunk lights on an 86-89 are moulded into the licence plate frame... but the ones for the 90 up are all indipendent so you'd have to work around that. Probably the best way is to shave the entire trunk lid, then cut out the stock tail-light brackets from the body, then weld in the brackets or make brackets from a 90-up... I've seen it done, if it's not done right it looks like crap. Personally I'd try 92-95 Civic tails... 95-03 S-10 tails... Subaru tails...something exotic... i mean, if you're slapping 90's tails on an 80's car of the same make and model, you're just tricking people to think it's newer than it is... if you go with something not that make then you got something truly unique... just my opinion....

anyway.. good luck and have fun

Well if you're shaving your trunk one might think that you know something about body work. It shouldn't be too hard. You might have to rebuild the corners a little bit. My cousin and I had to do that on his 94 civic when we put 00 taillights on it. It's really not too hard, just some fiberglass work and a good amount of time. If you're really serious about doing it and have any questions, hit me up.

Personally man i think the tailights on our cars look much better...except one thing...the giant ass yellow section, find a way to get rid of that (which would probably be alot easier than changin out the tailight year) then uve got a winner.

ill have pics of it when i get my car back today from the window tinting place.
i think changing the lights id kinda wierd, i mean, the lights make the 3rd gen a 3rd gen. thats just what i think.

I'd like to see those with carbon fiber instead of chrome backgrounds.......and in hatchback tailights.

I don't make them in carbon fibre 'cause i don't care for it. It's a fad, it'll wear out, like who cares if your lights wiegh a pound less. I make them also in a blacked backing. Hatch's are easier then the coupe but i haven't had any one ask me to do a project for the hatch yet.

The black would look sweet as hell. I don't like the chrome look, too flashy and gangsta gansta.

i don't plan on making ones for the hatch unless i get an order 'cause no one around here drives a hatch that they plan on fixin up, you order them, then i'll make 'em otherwise sorry it's a waste of my time.
