Worthwhile...very worthwhile, and both. Just be sure to de-pressurize before doing so and wear some gloves.

Actually there are three. One near the carb. One in beside the right left wheel and the third is a prefilter in the tank on the end of the pump assembly.
yea, good idea replacing them.

You should be ok without diving into the tank. it only really needs replaced with the pump.
Don't waste your time online. Just go to a local parts store or a dealership.

alright thanks

I believe we discussed this before Kroy, it is a strainer and does not necessarily contain an element of sorts for filtration, just like you said, a pre-filtration device which comes with the fuel pump or can be purchased separately as a fuel pump replacement part. Do not confuse the boy....Originally Posted by kroy

I ended up removing the rear filter and replaced it with a long single section of hose from the tank to the hardline. Then for the engine bay filter I bought a large clear plastic FRAM filter for the front (A filter for domestic carbed cars).
I'm not sure if the rear filter had a one way valve in it... but I know it had to be installed one way. Most filters have the flow direction marked.
