Hey, my amp randomly goes in and out of protect mode. It's a Jensen 300 watt 2ch, people say it's grounded improperly and I know it is... so wheres a good spot to ground it in the trunk? my ground wire is only like 1.5 feet long so somewhere close would help. Thanks!
You could put a little more wire on it and go under the plastic siding to have it on the body frame the frame of your car is the best ground in a car.
what little plasting siding? will that help the amp from shutting on and off randomly?
In your trunk is the siding of it made of Plastic??? If it is remove the plastic and put the wire on the metal body frame. If its the ground wire that is shorting out it will keep it from doing it again.

you'll have to find any part of the trunk with metal get some good sand paper and sand it to the bare metal. get a skrew and put that ground on their. I'd show you mine if my digital camera wasn't skrewed up...

I wouldn't do a frame ground on these cars since the frame is less whole then the sheetmetal. I would either ground it on the floor of the trunk (watch out for the fuel tank!), or on a strut bolt. I have done both of those with no grounding problem.

what's the best way to go about grounding it to the shocks?
pop the cap off the top... unbolt one of the upper bolts on the side, and hook the wire there with a loop conector...

1. check your gain control if it is too far it will overheat the amp and it will go in and out.
2. check the sub wirring. make sure your match the ohm from the sub with ohm the amp can handle. like if you sub is wired for 2ohm load and the amp can only handle 4ohm in bridge mode. this will cause the amp to cut in and out.
3. make sure the ground place is sanded to the bare metal for best connection.

What type of subs ohms are the subs? How do you have them wired to the amp? What is the lowest impedance the amp can handle? What is the model # of the amp?

I dont think that it is your ground. I think it's more of an amp problem. Jenson isn't the best brand. But yah, what zero.counter asked...

Im having kind of the same problem. My 1000 watt amp over heats, it actually burns me when i touch it. I have 3 grounds going to a D-Block, and then a 4 guage wire that comes out from that and grounds to a scraped part of my trunk. I think either the connection to the D-Block is unstable, or the paint wasnt all the way sanded off the metal. I used to have a fuseblock with bigger terminals so I might go back to that, but its pretty pointless to have a fuse where a ground is. And believe it or not, I used to blow fuses when I had it this way which makes no sense to me. Anyone know why it would possibly do that?

On my escort, i just drilled a 1/4"-1/2" hole in a thick part of my trunk floor. i put a screw through the connecter and sanded off the paint. havn't had any problems. I only have a Lanzar Vibe 230(400 watt 2 channel amp, running it bridged) Just watch out for the gas tank!

Note: NEVER GROUND ANYTHING TO THE STRUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously my instructor told me this b/c it could ruin a wheel bearing or something if there was an electrical surge.
yeah, like i said, just drill a hole and ground it into the trunk floor. It's fast and easy. no worries....

don't drill the hole in the floor. you don't want the water to come through it.
if you remove the plastic or in some versions it is material on the sides of the trunk, you will see posts. you can drill holes there.
